def agree that safeties have struggled for years & that we need to throw more to the RBs.

I wonder how many times in our history our kicking team graded higher than our QB room. :D

Makes me think of the days when we used to chant Eddie Eddie before Piniero would take the field.

Not sure if it was the staff or Richardson that limited throws to our running backs. Hope the staff and Mertz see the benefit of getting the ball more frequently to our best players

Trevor Etienne and Montrell Johnson rushed for 1,560 yards and 16 TDs a year ago and now the room has been bolstered with a transfer and a freshman. I don’t understand why this staff doesn’t throw the ball to the running backs more often (less than two catches by running backs per game), but this is the strength of the team

I don’t know who it was that didn’t involve RB in the passing game either …but we all know Anthony struggled with that throw anyway. It seemed like an odd thing for Dooley to whine about.

It’s bad when your quarterback unit is ranked 10th on the team.

Where’s Emory Jones when we need him?

Is it because there’s no 11th place? Im thinking DelRio and Treon were a better QB room than the current bunch.

    2023 gonna be rough.

Wheel routes... I like those, yes, but the running back should also be the safety valve for our QB in most every play. And that goes for plays the the running back stays in the backfield to block a blitzing defender.

AR was really bad on throws less than 10 yards, the staff probably had no choice. Hopefully that was just by design and it’ll change.

WR #2? Lol uhhh what? QB is definitely last, but WR is down there near the bottom as well

Our #2 is in the nfl and one is still here. The three freshmen should be good. I think we are fine at wr. Hopefully We can get them the ball.

My biggest concern is our Oline, but judging by these posts most people think we have greater concerns. I think our defense will be much better and we have as much or more talent at the skill positions, albeit much of it young, as we have had the past few years. But if the Oline isn’t reasonably good, it is talent that won’t perform at full potential this season.
That said, I do think the recruits at that position CBN brought in are very promising and I do believe 2 of them were early enrollees. Didn’t do bad in the portal either: especially if the kid from Baylor will be able to play.

The line has to be a major concern because without it, you can’t run an offense. It seems we have some talent but they have never played together and it takes time to Joe as a unit.

Our WR room is one of the worst rooms we have had in years. The freshmen HAVE to be ready to go

Well the main difference appears to be whether or not you're betting on any jumps from any of the position groups. Ahab dropped OL, WR, Edge, and QB, all of which make sense if you don't anticipate any of them being surprises.

In the article, Dooley mentions a few times that he is betting on a jump in production and not just a straight-line ranking if we were just going to score each player today. I agree we could very well see a bump from freshman for WR room, making that a very solid and deep group. OL is completely unknown, might as well roll a die there. Edge could be better because I think the ceiling for that group is very high. Finally, I think the QB room is a relative unknown as well.

QB is really the only one that should be at the bottom simply because we have no options. Either Miller or Mertz see the light or it's going to be a disaster season. We essentially are running with two backup QBs, a project in Brown that probably needs another year to see if it worked, and that's really it. Even with that said, hard to argue which is worse between TE and QB. I can't believe how fast we went from feeling good about TE room to it basically being a disaster group that never gets the ball.

Qb has to do with te. Some qbs use em well and some don’t. I’m not saying we have an elite room there but a qb that uses them better will maybe show they weren’t as bad as last years numbers.
