The best thing that could happen to the Republican Party is for Trump to die in his sleep.

Nobody here has directly asked me. Since you want to know I will tell you. I would back DeSantis over Trump in a heartbeat.

You guys are getting worked by the media…yet again. DeSantis is going to win in a cakewalk. As for Trump…he’s already in 2024 primary mode and he’s using the timing to his advantage. He’d be a complete amateur not to. How is this any different than when he went scorched earth on Graham, Rubio and Cruz in 2016? They all became best buds after the election. This will be no different. I wouldn’t be shocked to see DeSantis as the VP, lol.

It seems like you say Desantis and Trump are going to win in the same post. Please clarify.

I am not convinced, yet, that Desantis can withstand being publicly splayed by Trump any more that any other Republican has. But I could see a scenario where Desantis quickly falls in line and becomes Trump’s VP candidate.

GOP mega-donor says ‘it’s time to move on’ from Trump (msn.com)

    upload_2022-11-6_23-15-36.png
Republican mega-donor Ken Griffin said it’s time the party moves on from former President Trump, even as he appears to gear up for a possible reelection bid in 2024.

“He did a lot of things really well and missed the mark on some important areas. And for a litany of reasons, I think it’s time to move on to the next generation,” Griffin said of Trump in an interview with Politico published Sunday.

In this year’s midterms, Griffin, the head of the investment firm Citadel, has reportedly been a top backer for the reelection campaign of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a rumored 2024 contender who some see as a significant challenge for Trump in a hypothetical Republican presidential primary.

If anything, Trump has demonstrated he can eviscerate the Republican machine. So basically, I’d guess it breaks down as follows

50% of the party are Trump loyalists. Almost all of these will go for Trump

Another 30% are MAGA or MAGA sympathetic, but not married to Trump. Desantis probably wins a majority this group, but Trump will carry some also. Say Desantis 2/3 and Trump 1/3.

Another 20% is non MAGA. This group gets split up between Desantis, Pence, Hailey and others.

Unless Trump totally implodes or goes to jail, it just seems like the numbers are going to favor Trump, not unlike 2016.

I was referring to DeSantis winning over Crist in a cakewalk. This rant by Trump doesn’t hurt either one of them. DeSantis won’t take this personal. This is Trump’s style and if you think about it, they have very similar platforms, so how else are they going to differentiate themselves if they are not beefing? As mentioned, Graham, Rubio and Cruz all beefed with Trump and vice versa. DeSantis is an ideal VP candidate.

They all “beefed” with Trump and he pretty much castrated them all. Not sure how Desantis is going to feel handing over his nuts to Trump in deference.

There is next to zero chance DeSantis runs as a Trump VP candidate.

For whatever else you want to say about him, he’s got a really good political sense. And that job is political suicide - you get all the taint of having been Trump-adjacent, and none of the benefit because he’ll just blame you if anything goes wrong.

Based on the happenings of 1/6, it might be figurative suicide--if you don't do what Trump's mobs want.

I learned a long time ago to never say never when it comes to Trump, but you could very well be correct. What you said makes perfect sense, but Trump will need somebody who projects something more than a Mark Meadows type stature. Perhaps he’ll tap Cruz.

All that said, I’d rather the nominee be DeSantis. I think Trump is a train wreck. He has some really good ideas for governing, but he’s gone off the rails too far. DeSantis would be much better for the future of the GOP. Personally, I think the GOP is going to turn on Trump before the 2024 election.

DOJ is indicting Trump in the intermediate future. After the election indictments will be doled out like candy. Epstein, scavino, Eastman, ghouliani, Clark and a plethora of others that led the conspiracy (should be a few congress critters in the mix as wel). A substantial # will flip like flounders. Trumps candidacy (which he only wants to do because he thinks it will stop an indictment) will last as long as Tulsi Gabbert. DeSatan will toll but things are going to be so messed up that if there are free election he’ll lose as welll to (my prediction) Gavin Newsom
