Not really considering that there was absolutely no requirement that Trump be present at the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial. Trump was already determined culpable and the only issue is the amount of damages attributable to Trump's ongoing defamation of Carroll even after the original trial. The only reason that Trump even bothered to show up yesterday was to put on a performance and by the way he apparently had enough time to visit New Hampshire for a campaign rally on the same day as his court appearance.

Sounds more like Alina Habba has a jerk for a client...and deservedly so.

Interesting tidbits from the OP's linked article. Melania sat next to Barron in the pew and kept Barron between her and the orange guy as the casket was brought in. After Melania delivered the eulogy, she hugged her father.

I think the judge would have greatly preferred that Trump attend the funeral....one less idiot to deal with.

Next the orange guy's gardener will report that his pet turtle died and that orange guy is needed to console the gardener. Anything to delay, delay delay......

    I
I despise Trump but the judge should have issued a 24 hour continuance as a courtesy of the court. Just looks incredibly petty not to do so.

    Does Barron hoop in HS?

He could be a QB. The next Danny/Tebow/Leak. Keep him at home in Gainesville. MAGA parents in the south will send their boys to Gainesville to play football. Return of the Spurrier glory days.

Trump played this one pretty well. Just feeds the witch hunt narrative. Good job, judge.

Previously mentioned. First, there was no requirement that Trump appear in court and if he really did need that time to attend his mother-in-law's funeral why did he schedule a campaign rally for the same day after his court voluntary appearance?

Probably didn't help his cause that he asked for a week delay of the trial instead of just the one day to attend the funeral.

Because Trump works 16+ hours per day and gets a lot done each day. He is forced to with all of these sham trials. You are just used to your old white God only putting in a couple hours per day before shutting everything down for nappy time and stool softeners.

That's a good way to prove you weren't paying attention during Trump's presidency. He may have been awake 16+ hours per day but it wasn't running the country - it was watching TV and tweeting:

The schedule released to Axios differs from schedules the White House sends to the media every day.

According to the report, the president has designated "Executive Time" from 8:00 to 11:00 in the Oval Office, but actually spends these hours in his residence watching television, making phone calls and tweeting.

At about 11:00, the president emerges for his first meeting of the day, which is typically an intelligence briefing.

During the day he has a couple of meetings, with several breaks of "Executive Time" interspersed, and returns to the residence at about 18:00, says Axios.

What does his schedule after court the day before the funeral have to do with his wanting a court continuance on the day of the funeral? I'm hardly a Trump defender (as I said upstream, I despise him) but the guy is running for President and does have his own plane so his flying to NH Wednesday night after court is irrelevant as to where he may be on Thursday morning, which was the day of the funeral. And if you can't see that it's just partisanship.

Let's not make this about anything other than what it was. The lawyers on here can tell me if I am wrong, but I understand it is quite customary to 1 -3 days for immediate family type for a funeral and the mother-in-law would certainly fall into this category. Doesn't really matter what he did the rest of the day, as someone else said up thread, all this does is feed into the notion that "They" are out to get him. If he asked for a week and that was acceptable, give him one day. Motive behind it be damned. If you don't want the monster to live, don't give him softballs like this!!
