Dominion to Sue Fox, Anchors, Giuliani, Powell, etc

Whenever there is news that MAGAs do not like, they try to change the subject. And in this case it is a piss poor attempt, because the two cases couldn't have any less to do with each other. Not defending wha the media did in this kid's case, but it makes no sense to compare it to a coordinated propaganda attack on democracy by every right-wing pundit and media outlet against Dominion, despite the complete lack of evidence and the easy debunking of the claims. Which is exactly why American First already made a complete retraction of its claims, and I suspect you'll see similar admissions from other potential libel defendants soon enough.

Now this guy is a true believer. He really thinks he's running things, showing up with his list of instructions for Trump.

Well, at least one of those things actually happened -- but I assume that was already common knowledge and that someone made him that list anyway.

But I think he actually believes himself. And he believes Giuliani and Powell and so on. He's not in it for a pardon. And he's going to burn his own house down. If he had any sense he'd stop now and cash in on all the crazies buying his dopey memory foam pillow as some sort of hero of the revolution.

I wonder what he thinks is going on when he sees Fox and Newsmax trying to unring this bell?

Following up on it's lawsuit against Sidney Powell, Dominion has just sued Rudy Giuliani alleging false claims. My guess is Lin Wood could be next in line and it's only a matter of time before they file suit against the right-wing media outlets that have been pushing the false narrative regarding their voting machines and ultimately against the biggest fish, the Donald himself.

Looking more like you're the one who will end up apologizing. My guess is that given the choice between public retractions and depositions in which they will be asked to support their allegations against Dominion (not to mention the possibiity an actual trial in which they will have to testify) Sidney Powell, Rudy, Fox, Newsmax, OAN and Trump himself will opt for public retractions.

 

I don't think Dominion is going to be satisfied with mere retractions and apologies from most of those defendants.

 

They won't get 1.3 billion, but I hope they take him and Sidney Powell for everything they've got for the damage they've helped do to this country in the name of Donald Trump.

I added this to the other thread on the subject. As I mentioned in the other thread. Giuliani and his "co-counsel" Sidney Powell, both of whom have already been sued as well as Lin Wood, Fox News, its talking heads, OAN, Newsmax and maybe even the Donald himself all of whom could be and probably will be sued are in deep excrement.

Clare, Locke the law firm representing Dominion has a stellar record representing corporate plaintiffs in defamation cases. I see a settlement (actually multiple settlements) in which the defendants agree to formal retractions as well as significant monetary damages. The attorneys representing Dominion are way smarter than me but I would hope that in addition to a written retraction the defendants will be required to apologize in video form. Trump's followers are much more likely to watch videos which should spread virally on social media than read written retractions. Separate videos a contrite Rudy Giuliani, a contrite Sidney Powell, a contrite Sean Hannity and hopefully a contrite Donald Trump admitting that the false narrative that Dominion was complicit in voting fraud would go a long way towards debunking the myth that the election was stolen from Trump. The last thing the defendants want is to be deposed when they will be asked for substantive evidence of their allegations against Dominion.

 

$1.3B? That's quite a sum. Have to wonder how much Dominion is worth as a stand alone company or what there annual revenues are. No doubt they have been damaged, but $1.3 B?

Among other damages, they are entitled to recover punitive damages.

Georgia alone inked a $100+ million contract with them a couple years ago. Since perception is everything in the voting machine world, it's not a big leap to conclude they are probably going lose out on many of those kinds of contracts in the future (or will have their existing contracts cancelled). Add in long term effects over the coming years and punitive damages, and it's not hard to legitimately argue 3 commas in losses.

 

I remember there was concern several years ago about the vulnerability of electronic voting machines to hacking or other manipulation. Some argued that we should go back to all-paper voting, and there were some allegations or suspicions of fraud involving voting machines in the 2000 and 2004 elections.

I don't know if Dominion was in the mix back then, but I do remember a news story in which the Republican owner or CEO of one of the main voting machine companies said that he was going to do everything he could to help George W. Bush get reelected. A real tactful statement. But all the concern about electronic voting machines seems to have faded away.

Anyway, if Dominion has been involved in any election fraud, it seems highly unlikely that it would haul its accusers into court so they can air the evidence. (Like the MyPillow guy who has said publicly of Dominion, "Yes, please sue me.") It should all make a good movie. The only problem is who in the world could play Rudy Giuliani.

 

Dominion wasn't involved. If I recall the article focused on Diebold whose machines could be easily hacked and whose CEO was also a major Republican campaign contributor. It's my understanding that even though Dominion machines were used to tabulate votes in Georgia there was still paper backup.

 

Yes, the name Diebold rings a bell. But as I say, all the concern about the technology seems to have faded away, and electronic voting machines, for better or worse, are simply here to stay.
