this one should be interesting...unintended consequences and ll. lots of military transition right into civil service. that pipeline was just ruptured

Trump and Musk Are Going to War Against Military Veterans

Donald Trump's new executive order, titled "Implementing the President's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Workforce Optimization Initiative," outlines exactly how Trump and Elon Musk plan to dismantle the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and strip transitioning military veterans and their families overseas of the generous federal hiring incentives they rely on.

This executive order seeks to impose severe hiring restrictions and would disproportionately harm veterans, who make up one-third of the federal workforce. Requiring agencies to hire only one new employee for every four who leave will drastically reduce VA staffing levels. At a time when the veteran population is aging and the VA's mission has expanded under Biden, this policy will lead to massive delays and outright denials in health care, benefits processing, and disability claims - the essential services veterans depend on to survive.

The order also forces agencies to implement immediate reductions in force, prioritizing cuts to positions not explicitly mandated by law. In practice, this means slashing administrative staff, veteran outreach programs, and transition assistance. Many of these programs help veterans adjust to civilian life, with federal employment serving as a stable career path for thousands. Active-duty military members stationed overseas also rely on these programs for critical support, from child care to helping their spouses secure employment in foreign countries where they may lack language skills or legal work status.

Veterans, teachers, farmers. A whole bunch of people are starting to realize what they did when they elected President Musk and his Meat Puppet Moron sidekick.

As Sen Kennedy said : "Call someone who cares".

Disagree on the voters being stupid. People want to believe they are special.

Dems leadership is incompetent. They focused on marginal groups instead of middle America. The Dems should have a calculator on their website. Type in your facts — here is what MAGA versus the Dem agenda would mean to you. Vote for your interests, not against.

Yeah, for most of them, you can almost hear the "but I'm white?!?" desperation in their voice.

too misinformed, too foolish to trust the misinformation

lots of smart people believe in scientology too

it's a cult, with smart people included. logical thought processes are overridden by emotional ones to their own detriment. Spock was right

They thought that they were voting for lower prices. So far prices aren't lower but they're getting all the other sh*t that Trump promised.

The working class people who voted for Trump voted against their own interest. Social programs that the working class depends on will be cut to fund tax cuts for the wealthy. And the tax cuts won't help the working class as more than 40% of American households pay no income tax in the first place. Prices aren't going down either unless we have a recession with high unemployment (a real possibility).

Voters are indeed uniformed. There is no getting around it. Doesn’t preclude the Democratic leadership from being bad at marketing but no one was interested in policy debate in 2024 and suggesting they were is laughably naive. This country is run like American Idol with the most entertaining version of blaming someone as the winner.

Women and Blacks aren't marginal groups. I would say, rather, the Democrats put too much emphasis on marginal issues.

The Republicans are no better. They obsess over DEI and whack-a-doodle foreign policy policies, while inflation goes up, and consumer demand goes down.
