I used to throw all my change into a jar and then would trade it in once a year for vacation spending money. Then my kids became teenagers. lol Now I keep quarters in my car in case I go to Aldi. I always just hand over my cart to someone else when I am done.
Yep, that sounds familiar. Dad, I need some change to do laundry at school, I took all your quarters from your change jar.
Back when dinosaurs walked the earth I would steal my dad’s quarters to fill my gas tank. So it’s kinda the circle of life.
It was pretty fun to turn a jar of useless change into like $80-200. Now that I hardly use cash, I will probably be dead before I collect enough change for it to be worthwhile again.
Collecting coins went out for me when my bank and credit union stopped taking rolled coins. Now you have to toss them in a machine and pay a 10% fee or something similar to get them counted.
I was always too lazy to count and roll the change anyways. I would roll up to publix with a huge jar and just dump that sucker into the machine and watch the numbers go up.
Once the penny is non-existent, I guess a good way to insult people will be to say, "A penny for your thoughts."
I get it from bottle/can return in my state. I think it accumulates quicker than spare change. Before I go on a trip I’ll pull $100 for tipping money, etc.
The customer pays for it. My awesome local bagel place has "cash prices" and charges the customer for the transaction fee. Ive seen a few customers get worked up about the cents added to the transaction. 2 people really over 7 years of going there. But even if they arent "paying for it" they are imbedding in the cost or should so the customer does pay for it.
Then it’s either poorly run or not a business that should exist in its current form. There are all kinds of expenses that add up running a business. You can’t just cherry pick those that are “bad.” You take them all into account when operating a business (including if you want to go cash/debit only).
I see plenty of small business(mostly restaurants) who prefer cash. If I have it I use it, no sweat off my back to help them save 3%.
On the other hand I get 2-3% back for using my credit card. That's in addition to the credit card convenience, easy tracking of expenses and no desire to carry a lot of cash. Easy call for me..all credit cards all the time.
My wallet doesn’t even have space for cash. It holds my license and three cards (keycard for my vehicle and two credit cards).
Coin machine here charges a fee if you want cash back. I just take Ana mason gift card as payment. No fee for that
