Still. I havent used a penny in years. I use cash only for paying my housekeepers and lawn team. What else do people use cash for these days?
Was recently in the Bahamas. They don’t use pennys either. Cost more to make them than they are worth. Axe the penny. Round up or down, it will be a wash.
The world’s richest man telling us (for the fourth decade now) to get rid of pennies. Inefficient. What about $50 bills? Also inefficient for President Musk. Useless.
I would also look at getting rid of the $10 bill. Local casinos here do not use them and they get along just fine.
Ha. OK. I don’t live in a casino so perhaps I’m missing out. FTR, casinos also give you “free” booze. I have indeed lived that one. In my own life I wouldn’t miss any denomination. I have a wad of bills in my phone in case I need to survive an extra 12 hours of apocalypse. Don’t even know the total. Prolly $250 or so. Or, $30. Maybe it’s all my stripper dough. Otherwise I am 99% digital. Still “rich” that President Musk spent $250M to enact a 40 year-old idea of eliminating the currency that poor people actually use.
Not to attack your doomsday plan… but cash in the apocalypse will only start fires. You need to shove some gold bars in your phone case, or a frying pan to bash zombies in the head.
Canada stop producing pennies in 2013 as the cost of producing the penny was higher than the face value. They round up to the nearest nickel
So I have to tell her, "Sorry, Penny, I have to start calling you Nickel. Or even Dime." If she objects, no big deal, girls like her come a dime a dozen.
Part of my job is overseeing a pretty busy retail operation. $10 bills are by far the least used, but maybe more common than one might think. 5 and 20 are the most used.
