One thing these people have figured out that Democrats havent is that you can create media attention by saying things and drive the conversation

In case people can't tell MAGA is falling victim to Musk's catchy headlines, which is exactly what he wants. All flash, no substance.

I don’t think there’s any doubt the applications are indeed done on paper, since that’s what they have been talking about “fixing” for a long time. I wonder what % of past personnel files are digitized. It takes YEARS to do that. Musk knows this.

Now it’s fair to say the process should have been fully online by now regardless of what % of the background data is available in the govt cloud vs what still has to be physically pulled from a medieval records cave. It’s crazy that it’s not. Somehow I doubt his intentions here are noble and to the benefit of future govt retirees having a better user experience.

See none of that matters though. You make an outrageous claim in a couple of seconds with no research, but then the fact-checkers and skeptics spend hours debunking something. But by then, Bill has started a new thread.

Oh the horrors! Repurposing an old mine as a storage facility. What is the world coming to?

What makes this particularly stupid is that no one in congress wants to spend the money to modernize things, so our aversion to "government waste" and spending is what creates these situations in the first place. Remember all the fuss when the ACA made medical providers start operating in the 21st century WRT medical records? The people stuck in their ways who have to transition get pissed, the people who think any government spending is bad get pissed. This is the result of years of "government bad" ideology.

Not only that but you have to update the systems without hurting the beneficiaries. I am reminded of the difference between a surgeon and a mechanic.
