Surely one of the reason why Trump was hated is not his policy positions. His policy positions weren’t markedly different from his predecessors. Rather, he was hated because, for some reason, his opponents (including ordinary Americans) assumes the right to assail him without getting clapped back at.
Silly me, I thought we hate him because he is a lawless carpetbagger with a smutty mouth that said he liked to grope women and lied about everything, while draft dodging his way to his own Vietnam, sleeping with women. Jeesh, where did I get my info from.
Trump deserved every bit of criticism he received and more. Personally I hated him because he’s a foul-mouthed narcissistic bully who embarrassed us internationally, endangered the health and safety of Americans, catered to the rich, and kissed the feet of dictators. But more than anything else I hated his whining voice. There’s something about his voice that makes my skin crawl.
I assume you mean the American populace and not values. There certainly is a representation and cross section of America on this board. There are lawyers, teachers, IT specialists, business owners, former military (enlisted and officer corp), medical professionals, civilian and government employees, law enforcement, political activists, and a retired community that spans all aspects of life. What we don't have here is representation of people in poverty who have neither the time or resources to engage in public debate. That said not everyone on this board has a college degree from UF and members that have no college degree at all. What I can say is people on the board are willing to speak their minds and most are willing to do research on any number of subjects that arouse their interest. From a political / social point of view I venture most Americans could care less until they are directly affected. That's when the populace at large speaks up and members of THFSG takes notice. Riots / wage increases affect the business owners and K-12 school syllabus affects the parents. Then there are issues that affect everyone SS, Medicare, inflation and the war in Ukraine. So to answer your question what we have is subset of people with differing opinions who can afford the time to express them. We analyze and voice approval / disapproval and add anecdotes that reveal who we are and where we are coming from. The significant difference is the MSM is not going to bring on everyday people to interview and get their views on any number of topics.
Decades high inflation, worst border crisis in decades, flirting with WWIII ... but at least no mean tweets!
Virology developmental timeline ... gods are angry —> vapors —> humors —> invisible poison painted on walls —> microbes entering the ears of otherwise sterile per Pasteur —> my dead cellular debris making you sick —> smart dead cellular debris evading lockdowns and masks ...
What do you mean, what ? If you were living in 14th Century Milan, and you didn’t believe people were dying, in droves, from invisible poison painted on walls ... you were not representative of sensible Milanese society.
What does that have to do with anything in the thread so far? Last I checked, we're not living in 14th century Milan.
No, it's far more left wing in here than in the real world "On average last year, 37% of Americans described their political views as moderate, 36% as conservative and 25% as liberal." U.S. Political Ideology Steady; Conservatives, Moderates Tie Left wing ideas are overrepresented online simply because the group of people who hold leftist ideas greatly overlaps the group who spend a lot of time online. Most people I know are conservatives, and if I told them to look on Reddit for something they'd look at me like I had two heads because they don't know what it is. One person brought it up awhile back asking if I'd ever heard of "reed it". Some my age (30s) don't have computers. I work in IT and am surrounded by a liberal echo chamber there. If one of my coworkers had a conversation with almost anyone I know in the real world they'd probably have PTSD. But, their hobbies include things like social media, board games, and talking about vegan stuff so they kinda hang out in a big echo chamber all the time.
Did you come to that conclusion anecdotally or are there actual stats? This board used to be heavily conservative and when a group of them left, I'm told they went to a board that is strictly conservative. From other things I've read, the rightwing has a vast presence online.
