14 years been to dance 3times. Lost in first Rd of NIT 3 times. That's the coach you want?
Thought Egor was transfer from Rice. Maybe I dreamed it. Possible

I hate having to deal with random drug tests. Retirement can't come soon enough.

I think the Grant ship has sailed. If he would have had impact, it would have been as as Billy's successor.

Never meant to be mean I think you said. I was just talking that you watch a different game than I do. Could have sworn Mann played a lot and started plenty. JJ could not run the court 2 times with out getting tired. To say he's not improved not sure what to say. How many players have went to NBA in 7 years counting transfers from Whites teams.
He has not recruited well. This year he has the 4th best class in SEC coming in best he has done. So will not respond to any posts of yours as last thing I want is to upset anyone on a message board.
Well least made top 1000 in your mind. Thanks maybe with some better workouts can get to top 500. Meant no harm.

We are the flagship university in the state of Florida. We are one of the best public universities in the country. We have great weather and gorgeous coeds. Gainesville is a nice town to live in. The state of Florida is loaded with great high school players, and so is the south in general. We should be able to out recruit every SEC school except for Kentucky. Throw in a coach and staff who can recruit and coach at a high level, and we should be competing for SEC titles almost every year. Let’s do it.

You could say the same thing about UF football after Spurrier. After Spurrier left, we were mediocre until we hired Meyer, and won two more championships. Coaching is the most important part of winning championships, more so than the administrative side.

Don’t disagree with any of that. Just was stating we have a somewhat fair weathered fan base. There is no juice in the building on game days and that rubs off on our team IMO. The next coach needs to get the butts back in the seats.

Here’s my two cents. First, NOPE to the OP’s question. No no no. Second, THE Lesson that I hope our AD/Admin/fan base learns from this mess is to NEVER again give a Coach in ANY of our sports 6+ years to AT LEAST begin showing the development of CONSISTENCY in the program, it’s direction and the effort of the players. Period. By and large, 6 years should be more than enough for a quality Coach at the U of F with the access that they should have to talent/recruiting to be able to compete seriously for at least a conference championship. If they can’t do it in that time, odds are that they only will once in a long long stretch. And THAT just isn’t good enough at UF. Hire a Coach. Pay him/her well. Give them every opportunity in the world to show within 4 years (a full recruiting cycle) that they deserve a 5th year. Within THAT time frame, said Coach should be able to get it (at LEAST Competing for a conference title) done. If not, no 6th season and beyond is warranted.

    It is what it is...........

A high character, nice, handsome, well spoken, connected (dad)
man in the profession whom is well liked.

With a ceiling of winning at about .625, 2nd round SEC exit, 2nd round NCAA exit.

    Decent - YES
    Good - Debatable
    Great - Not even close

Could he break through? Win the SEC regular season or SEC tourney - Sure, that's possible, based on winning one or the other, yes, maybe one or the other every 10 years MAYBE.

NCAA Title - NO CHANCE IMO

    Final Four - Under 5%

Could he be our version of Dabo Sweeney - mediocre for a long time and then emerge.........YES, it's possible.

Why it's not probable - While a "decent" recruiter, CMW is far, FAR away from locking up Florida HS talent. Not even close IMO.

Then he is combating a general apathy among the Florida fan base, lets face it, UF is not as energized as other SEC fan bases, does not travel particularly well, won't flip the cameras so the arena looks 2/3 empty for most games and does not seem willing to get in the gutter and wallow for the top kids. (Which may or may not be a good thing). Considering what is happening with Will Wade and the current situation in football, there does not seem to be any level of CHEATING that IS NOT allowed in recruiting now.

Best Guess - CMW will get one more year (8th) to accomplish something before the tub stopper is pulled.

Personally speaking - I WANT coach to succeed. It's just difficult for us fans because we had 19 years of Billy, which meant we were playing in Regional Finals or Final Fours once every two or three years.

CMW has ZERO SEC titles, ZERO SEC tourney titles, advanced past the first round of the NCAA's - one time.

Agree with all you said except that he will be given another year. This will be his last season at Florida.

33 - I won't disagree however I think coach is really well liked so unless UF absolutely tanks it this year (which is very possible IMO) I suspect he gets one more year.

Also the money issue - Considering UF appears to be backing up dump trucks of cash and dumping it where ever coach Napier wants it, the Administration may be loath to go right back into that situation with basketball.

Agree with most of this especially wanting him to succeed.

I disagree he's even capable of having a breakthrough year at this point. We have shown a complete inability to string any significant win streak of substance since year 2. I thought this season could be different given how it started but nope. If he were capable of it then we would have at least competed for a top spot in regular season or post season SEC play. We devolve every year from season start. Add to that he has believed he had the right pieces in place multiple years only to watch the team have the same results year in year out. I gave him a huge pass due to his poor luck with injuries but he has shown nothing in terms of growth and progression regardless of lineup. I truly hate this for the program and for him as a person because nothing would be better for all parties involved than for him to show improvement which quite simply....he hasn't.

If you can’t win with Blackshear, KJ, Nembhard, Lewis, Mann, Locke, etc. all on the same team, you can’t win. That was the turning point for me.
