I say what's allowed in my OP... and any coach that we might need is okay to talk about in my thread. ;)

All as long as you link sites/articles to it.

Unfortunately, this happens all the time on message boards.

We want him to succeed and I think that he will!

I think of Red Corn from King of the Hill every time I hear his name.

I have no inside knowledge about any coach but I can tell you a little about Korn...
Willy Korn is a local kid from here in Upstate SC. (Byrnes.)
He was the 5 star QB savior for Clemson. The hype and hope around this kid was off the charts.
That's all the Clemson people around me talked about before he stepped onto campus...

Needless to say- he was a total bust. Never doing anything. Barely even earning a start.
He finally transferred to North Greenville and said "football is fun again."

So he was at Clemson while Napier was there.
Just IMO- he would be the perfect mentor for a DJ Lagway because Korn lived the pressure and the pain.

That’s certainly one way to spin it.

Per a connection to a certain mega-donor (ride on the team plane type), Billy isn’t anywhere close to a hot seat (yet) and the plan is to have him at least start 2025 at a minimum, no matter what happens in 2024 (some sort of ethical for-cause scenario aside). But the biggest reason for that isn’t “trusting the process” or “he just needs more time”, it’s that this donor (and presumably others) are disgusted with continuing to bail out the UAA with ridiculous buyouts, pay-to-play NIL schemes, etc. They’re frustrated by what CFB has become/continues to become and just aren’t willing to spend their money like a UGA does (for a Kirby Smart product), as an example.

It is what it is. Until I win Powerball, I’ll never have that level of influence.

If I win tonight I still wouldn’t have it. There is no way I’d waste my money throwing it at a sports team with zero ROI. Football doesn’t provide my life with anything of value other than short term entertainment. I’d far and away rather help provide for those who are less fortunate or care for animals with my money.

My thoughts exactly. Although if next year winds up completely in the toilet, I like many others would like to see a change. I can’t complain if there isn’t ( I haven’t been a season ticket holder since 1989), but when certain individuals have been asked over the last 12 years to bail out a UAA for poor coaching hires and a now corrupt NIL format, I can see their reluctance going forward.

Only a handful of teams will be willing to compete in the current environment and that in itself will probably be the death of the current college game.
Maybe UF could lead the other 100 plus teams in forming a fair and competitive college product, that benefits the players and fans equally. I’m not holding my breath.

What we need to realize, IMO, is that the first sign that Napier is going to be released is...Stricklin has been released. Maybe it will be at the same time, but still, there is NO WAY Stricklin will be running getting a new coach. And the time periods you reference seem completely correct in the way Napier has been doing his business.

The only other alternative is turning in the Nebraska in football program... a non starter no matter how much the NIL is screwing up college football. But for the assistant coaches and the pay we give them... it has to be top 2-4 in the SEC and top 5 in the nation. It's really up the the position coaches to put us over the top, given the CEO we have right now.

My understanding is this donor’s financial hesitancy also applies to firing/buying out Stricklin, although not nearly as severe. Seems there will be an evaluation re: Stricklin’s future after the basketball season ends. I don’t think that’s a surprise to anyone.

Just my gut feeling, but I think Stricklin survives until this time next year at a minimum, no matter what happens with basketball. There just isn’t much appetite to do another AD search next spring/summer. Again, that’s just my read on it.

Just saw this story on Willy’s journey to becoming a coach earlier this week.
