This might help explain this seeming out of left field issue with Panama. It seems DJT has a personal issues with the country. Trump Ocean Club (Panama) management team was evicted as (essentially) squatters and there were physical altercations with his management/security staff and representatives of the actual owners of the property. Trump's team had been fired the year before, but refused to recognize the firing as valid. A judge had to physically go to the building with armed police to help end a 12 day stand off. His staff finally vacated the premises and the Trump name was unceremoniously pried off the building. (Note: the building bore his name, but he did not own the property.) There were allegations of money laundering and tax fraud with respect to improperly reporting employee's wages. Trump is prohibited from having business property in Panama.
