Does China or the U.S. have more influence in South Korea?

 

The US has more influence

 

South Korea does not control the only doorway into Asia the way that Panama controls the only (convenient and safe) doorway between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. I am assuming you brought up the question because China is closer to South Korea than the U.S. is, while the U.S. is closer to Panama than China is. Of course, the reason that the U.S. has more influence than China in South Korea is the fact that the U.S. defended South Korea from invading North Koreans (and Chinese).

 

If that weren't true, there'd be no South Korea.
