Most shows on Hulu and YouTube are on demand. No need to record them. Just find the show. Pick the episode and watch at your leisure.

It's worth it as you can fast forward through commercials. Cuts out the advertisement and the time to watch your program.

On live programming you don't have to be a slave to the start time. Watch from the beginning when you want and fast forward through the commercials until you catch up to live programming.

This agreement is terrific news for the future of streaming TV services:

Disney, DirecTV Reach Deal Ending Blackout of ESPN, ABC and More (variety.com)

Al a carte programing selection is on the table in the near future. Streaming was developing into cable tv lite, so this is a welcome change.

The new agreement gives DirecTV the rights to offer multiple genre-specific options — sports, entertainment, and kids and family — inclusive of Disney’s linear networks along with Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+. In addition, DirecTV will bundle Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ with “select DirecTV packages” under a wholesale agreement, and the pay-TV provider will sell the Disney streamers to customers on an a la carte basis.

DirecTV also has the rights to distribute Disney’s upcoming ESPN flagship direct-to-consumer service with its expected 2025 launch — at “no additional cost to DirecTV customers.”

It's not the same though. Doesn't have the intense local focus.
