Funny how some people who rant about others being “woke” are the ones boycotting stock, beer and books. “Ignore their P/L, business strategies and earning report, they sued a governor after he attacked them?” That cannot “inspire confidence “ for capitalists. most folks problems with Disney are political, and that is some anti- capitalism (“woke” - if that really meant anything) inspiration.
Amusing when you put it that way. Republicans against ESG investing, but 100% on board with contra-ESG investing. A new category: investing only in unsustainable companies that are the biggest polluters and have the biggest pieces of shit for CEO’s. Brilliant strategy!
What’s even more amazing is that they are boycotting over a “woke” company, but can’t define the word “woke.”

So, in order to be "anti-woke" and not a hypocrite at the same time, you can't refuse to invest your hard-earned money into a certain stock? To be honest, it is people such as yourself that classic liberals hate. "We're not only going to police your thoughts, we're going to tell you which stocks you have to buy for your portfolio. If you resist, well then, you're a hypocrite."
I invest in stocks to make money. You seem to do it for other reasons. I don’t divide every part of the world into good or bad, and most of my life is not political. I said it is ironic that people who complain about suppression of opinions (presumably what anti-woke means, though who knows) so quickly cut any ties to anybody they disagree with. I never called you a hypocrite, but since you labeled that behavior as such, I admit to agreeing.
There is a pretty distinct difference in suppressing speech and cutting ties to someone you disagree with. One is infringing upon another's rights. The second is everyone's personal right. But being woke, I can understand how that could be lost on you.
Banning books, telling people what medical care they can get, denying parental rights to couples, dictating what professors can teach, or Desantis challenging Disney b/c of employee benefits? Which side expresses disagreement with bigotry and which side does the above? I believe everyone has a right to express their opinion – you just don’t have the right to not have your opinion identified as ignorant. I actually agree that many on the left are hypersensitive as to some social issues. However, folks like yourself on the right are no different, and currently meaner.
Nobody is forcing anything. You volunteered that you “wouldn’t buy Disney stock for $1”. Which of course is stupid given the principle behind it (or lack there of). Might as well say you wouldn’t buy similarly woke coca-cola or apple shares for $1. Of course you are free to irrational investment choices for whatever reason, you are free to not participate in investing at all or you are free to buy all marijuana stocks and crypto and see where that goes. Most likely it’s that nobody believes your outlandish statements anyway.
If you don't like DeSantis, perhaps you should have ran a better candidate against him so that he didn't win the state by 20 points.
180 turn from discussing Disney stock to “I should have run a better candidate.” I didn’t run anybody - not in politics or a party member. I’m a fiscal conservative, socially liberal. Pro business Desantis is ok, desantis licking right wing boots and losing focus on individual liberty is a moron (and got smoked trying to run for potus). Again, some of us buy stocks to make $, beer to drink it, and books to read - and f politics. But some folks love to swirl in that toilet.
DeSantis exposed the Disney board for the rubes they are. If you want to invest money in that POS, be my guest, but know that it is a POS stock.
Our kids watched the movie three or four times in the last week. I couldn't find anything to be outraged about in the movie or the star character.
