In my give the benefit of doubt to these republican controlled states, the laws were rushed to consolidate power around the issue, and would be modified to more humane, less intrusive laws between patient and medical provider. But I don't see signs of that. In fact, politicians in red states seem in a race to roll back equal rights, punish gay and transgender people, interfer in education and control individual health care decisions for women. This isn't expanding the base, just entrenching white nationalism.

"Yes, but the world is now ending because DeSantis is attempting to remove Disney's Constitutional rights."
There I fixed your misleading statement for you. Bootsie has no problem with special tax districts, in fact, he approving several this year, and has not attacked the other 1800 existing special tax districts. It is authoritarian gov't 100% and indefensible.

This is so disingenuous. Very few are true anarchist/libertarian. But yes…Florida is super free!

Please explain to me in some detail the chick fil a situation as you see it.

Should restaurant space in limited availability at public venues be allowed to close on Sundays? Ie should it matter to the airport or stadium if one of their vendors closes on Sundays and takes that delivery capacity out of the venue?

So that's why they didn't want to deal with Chick-Fil-A? :D

Perhaps this happens on both sides but it seems to me much worse on the right. Republicans are the proverbial dog that catches the car. They push farther and farther. The base always demands complete purity and is never satisfied and eventually there is backlash.

You don't know, do you? Yet you spout it as some justified defense of what DeS is doing..your opinions are awfully rigid for someone who has such a shallow understanding of the issues

"In Chicago, residents in Moreno's ward have expressed mixed opinions that the fast food restaurant won't be coming to their neighborhood. Moreno does have the support of Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values. They disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents. This would be a bad investment, since it would be empty," Emmanuel said in a statement to the Chicago Tribune."

"Like other politicians before him, Bronson objects to Chick-fil-A's presence in New York on the grounds of the company's history of supporting anti-LGBTQ+ causes."

"Democratic Assemblyman Sean Ryan of Buffalo said the airport's food vendor notified him that they would not add a Chick-fil-A restaurant to the food court. Ryan applauded the decision, saying that the owners of the fast-food chain have a history of supporting and funding anti-LGBTQ organizations."

"In March, Chick-fil-A was blocked from opening a restaurant in the San Antonio airport after opposition from City Council members for what one member called a “legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior.”"

What were you saying about "shallow understanding" again?

I didn’t click your link - just a thought, maybe you should have quoted the relevant current law instead of only the expired portion?

So in effect as of the 2nd phase of this law, 33% on larger sized boards must be diverse. But that includes women. Still a relatively low bar to cross.

But at the end of the day, none of that matters. That CA diversity bill could be the dumbest, most business unfriendly diversity law possible, it’s *still* not using the levers of govt to retaliate against speech. That CA law applies equally to all corporations. Desantis targets only one. This is why even many GOP are separating from him over this Disney issue. Also notable that Disney speech was in defense of a groups individual civil rights (whereas the FL Governor is attacking those rights by making a class of people unmentionable in almost any context).

I’m totally shocked you’d play the old “but basketball” reverse racism canard.

And spare you from additional examples indicating a pattern of policy-making from Democrats? No thank you.

How far we've come from "but it only requires one." Now 33% and it's still a low bar. Seems like anything under 50% is a low bar for you.

    Yes it does.

I didn't bring it up as evidence of retaliation against speech as I have repeatedly mentioned. I brought it up to show that Democrats are willing to violate individual rights if the cause is warranted. And here you are poo-pooing it.

Yep, so they target all covered corporations who don't do business the way they like with a law that is prejudicial on its face.

Meaning he hasn't targeted the plethora of other liberal businesses in Florida.

It was just an observation and me speaking out my thought process. I didn't mean it as an insult, just an observation and perhaps a mere statement of fact.
