I actually answered this earlier in the thread.

Sorry, I was busy responding to the rest of the hive mind. Repeating a point I already made earlier in the thread wasn't my highest priority.

You guys chose tribalism when you decided to ostracize anyone who thinks Cailtyn Jenner is a man or that there is no moral equivalence between heterosexual and homosexual marriage.

You chose war because "you were right," don't cry now that we're engaging in it.

Will Disney pack up and leave because DeSantis won’t allow teachers to talk dirty to first graders ?

Who knew the fastest growing state in the US was slowly dying at the same time ? Tell you this: if FL is dying, it seems to be dying more slowly than Disney.

So, so wrong. But consistent. Anybody on a side is wrong (unless it is the country over party) Just don’t vote incumbent, and in most cases it will work out.

I’m just going on past threads for years, where some decry “big business” getting tax breaks to move to an area.

Wasn’t it Citizens United that ruled that corporations are like people and have a right to free speech?

As I recall the left hated that decision.

Admittedly I may be wrong on the details it sure seems positions change based on who is the “good guy or bad guy”.

Noting I see it from both sides.

Elections have consequences. Exactly. Businesses don’t want to do business in states that retaliate against their political statements with punishment that hurts their bottom line. So they cancel business deals costing jobs here. The consequences won’t be paid by Disney. They will be paid by the citizens taxpayers of the state of Florida when Disney doesn’t spend the money to relocate these offices here and when we pay the bill for the free exercise litigation DeSantis and the GOP caused. Then again, nobody expects their base to appreciate free speech. You don’t even comprehend it. As reflected in your post. The words of third wild tin horn dictators. Mike the ones yot vote for, support and applaud for their assaults on free speech you don’t agree with.

Again, we've been hearing this "attacks on the education system" for years now. Let's take a quick peak at where FL ranks in education.

Something like 71% nationwide support gay marriage, and truly the govt trying to block people from living their lives is antithetical to a free society. Same logic as trans rights. The trans issue is more niche and has unanswered questions (competitive sports fairness). Which is why conservatives had that as a more “exploitable” wedge issue - to show the bigots they have some fight in them.

When people branch out from trans issues and start broadening it out to attacking gays, it’s getting off political bot programming for wedge issues and revealing the true bigotry underneath. You are literally doing what was predicted once the political strategists started coming out with “bathroom laws” and harping on those 2 or 3 trans athletes like it was some sort of national crisis. You are the target market.

Trump is racist as hell, but he was smart enough to keep his attacks to Mexicans and pretend to pander to African Americans to keep that from totally bottoming out (while also simultaneously attacking African immigrants and telling them to back to their shithole countries). Trump never veered into LGBTQ issues because even he knew it would just be unwinnable for him. Actually, he sort of pandered to them. Which is why he had Peter Thiel in his corner and Desantis won’t.

He doesn't care. He'll be gone. He thinks he's going to be president, but his insulated positive feedback loop doesn't let him know that the entire rest of the country hates him and laughs at him on a daily basis. He also has no personality, zero affability, and he's not a very intelligent guy - Trump will devour him on the trail and on stage, and he will just squint and mumble in his white go-go boots as he melts away.

But while he spends millions of Floridians' tax monies to "own the libs" by taunting Disney, destroying UF, and kidnapping asylum seekers in Texas and flying them to Martha's Vineyard, and blowing $1 billion dollars and 2,000 new 6-digits jobs...enough Floridians still voted for him, knowing exactly what he was about. They deserve it. I just feel bad for all my good friends in Florida being punished by the midwestern retirees and assorted "Florida Mans" voting for this self-serving creep.

These are the same voters who watched Batboy Rick Scott get fingered for committing one of the biggest Medicare & Medicaid frauds in US history, costing his former company $1.7 Billion in fines, and still elected that empty suit of grift to the Senate. Sometimes there is no helping people who are dead set on their own destruction. They have certainly earned all the destruction they've brought on themselves.

What will happen if Disney decides they're tired of Squinty McFuehrer's performance art antics, and pulls up stakes and moves the entire theme park complex to another state? Georgia is blue now, would welcome them with open arms, and has tons of useless rural land to convert. If that happens, how soon until Florida has to implement a state tax just to stay afloat? And DeSantis will be off in some south Florida mansion or in another state or country, counting all his MAGA donation money.

I support gay marriage, and I support trans people having the opportunity to have whatever surgery they want (as adults) on their own dime.

Those questions tell you nothing regarding the culture war issues with DeSantis.

Excellent points. DeathSantis has none of Trump's style points, has none of his cult following from NBC propping him up for over a decade as a pretend millionaire business success, and he has gone full-Simple-Jack and attacked literally every. Single. Group of people in America except white male white supremacist Floridians.

How is defending people who have traditional religious views of sex and marriage and thinking they shouldn't be ostracized from civilized society, "attacking gays?"

You wonder why we have a culture war, it's because for the last decade, you have lumped in the traditional Christian who respectfully minds his own business in with the guy who hates gay people.

Then you have teachers go beyond their role trying to teach kids values that happen to be both politically progressive and anti-Christian, and you get mad that the traditional Christian is angry. He should be angry.

I care a lot more about what Trump does than what he says. And yes, the character concerns and the institutional respect concerns are legitimate.
