The movie steers children towards seeing Gaston as bad and the beast as good. Both Gaston and the beast are objectively bad.

Well, here it kinda sounds like you're not necessarily upset with the message (e.g., women's rights), but that you think the message is offered in a preachy, predictable, or otherwise non entertaining way which makes the movies less enjoyable. I could see that being possible, but I think that's a different issue.

It’s all of the above. I’m disappointed in the choices Disney makes in their shows. It’s all woke over substance.
    And yeah, it’s annoying.

chapek was a money hungry, greedy clown out to screw the public. he did so many things wrong that people were getting turned off by disney, reminds me of how biden is running the country, sorry, to easy to pass up a chance to rip the inept one.

Disney's agenda is financial. Those who think that Disney creatives are changing societal norms through their treatment of women's and gay issues in movies are confusing cause and effect. Society has changed, as has the audience.

You don't have to go along with this changes if you don't want to, but it's society that has changed, not Disney. The backlash is just that, a backlash. The older generation has more power so they can fight some of the change but they can't stop it.

Meanwhile, there's a lot of other interesting issues about this sudden change. Far more interesting, in my opinion, than "wokeness".

I do think there's a potential "wokeness" issue in that their current largest park presence is in a state that is pretty reactionary and whose norms are at odds with most of the rest of the country and the Western world, which constitutes most of Disney's customer base. Not sure how Iger can navigate that. In the long run, it will be Florida that has to change or suffer economic damage. But that could be a bit, and he has short tern financial responsibility

I'm going wait till Kim Masters covers this before I know what I think about the business decision. I trust her reporting

For those trying to see this as a statement about wokeism at Disney, Iger has been much more vocal about DeSantis and the anti-woke stuff than Chapek ever was. Chapek had to be pushed into speaking out, Iger went charging in. He believes he has a moral imperative to push back against the anti-woke stuff.

    Absolutely. Not even close.

I still think Iger may have to figure it out. They are stuck in a hostile environment. They can't really give in, because they will hurt the brand just about everywhere else but Florida. But they are also stuck in Florida

I've seen Luca probably 10 times. Not once did I ever think they were gay, and never even considered until this post. You think the two pre-pubescent male charters are gay? Based on what?

I haven’t looked at in a year or so. Looks like there was some pushback, like 20 links saying it may not be gay. Some say it still is. You believe what you want. We all see what we want to.

A podcast I listened to today suggested this was probably happening.
