She got fired. What response to her horrible comments would you not consider to be pathetic? Does she need to be put in a pillory in the public square? Arrested?

You don’t think it reflects on Bennie Thompson that hired her and offered legislation to strip Trump of his protection. I guess not.

It’s not a good look. And if she hadn’t been fired immediately and I was one of Bennie’s constituents I’d be pissed about it. But she was. Not sure what you’re looking for.

Probably will not affect them politically. In addition to Thompson the bill had eight cosponsors most of whom are Black and all represent safe very liberal Democratic districts and once again the bill was strictly symbolic. It had absolutely no chance of even making it out of the Judiciary Committee.

AR-15 was registered to Dad but his disturbed son used it.

A cop who could have prevented this stared down the barrel of an assault weapon and chose to save himself.

A political party that laughs and jokes about threats against the other party's leaders (Whitmer, Pelosi) falls victim instead.

Now, which political party supports every household having several assault weapons inside it and likes to mock political violence against the opposition? Hint: not the Dems.

Truth is always stranger than fiction. Small town blue collar Republican bastion raises a camouflage wearing AR toting registered Republican, and some delusional individuals still say it’s the other party. You just can’t make this stuff up. Critical thinking skills these days just don’t exist in MAGA land.

Credit to the Congressman for firing his staffer. It was totally inappropriate.

Wasn’t too long ago on this forum we were having discussions regarding strtegies of registration to defeat strong candidates at the primary level.

Not saying what went on here because I don’t know but this kid was obviously full of hatred that he acquired from somewhere.

Yes it’s possible this 18 year old kid registered as a republican only to vote in the primary, wore “hunting outfits” to school, signed up for the rifle team and then wore a gun nut T-shirt during his assassination attempt using as AR-15 but was actually not a gun nut. It’s also possible that he was outspoken in his classes about being conservative (quotes from classmates) but was actually just pretending to be conservative or has since changed his views. All possible but it seems very unlikely. When I hear hoofbeats I don’t assume it’s zebras.

Republicans tend to be angry, irrational people. Just look at the posts on here. Some reeeaaaalllly bad takes here. Some crazy double standards being applied as well when it comes to past and recent comments (certainly in terms of volume, like nitpicking 1 comment vs 1000 comments and trying to imply a bias against the guy with 1000 ugly comments). Look at the far right blogosphere continually looking to start civil war or race wars. Complete madness. Those are people making inroads in Republican politics.

It definitely could have been a lefty. Initially I thought 50-50. But even when it turns out it’s not, so many loons trying to find some connection. Like… it’s just flailing at this point. The focus on a $15 donation is just getting pathetic. Who gives a shit!? “He had to have acquired his hate somewhere”. Yeah sure buddy, maybe his 10th grade history had a lesson on CRT. Yeah, that did it! It was that damn libbie history teacher!

Sounds to me like the typical outcast. That isn’t a political thing. The only odd thing was his school had a gun club. Maybe he was trying to show his aim wasn’t so bad afterall? Who knows. What is going on with your post is more obvious. You are trying to fit a set of actions from a likely irrational actor, and have it fit neatly into your own irrational world view.

I’m not defending the kid at all. Just throwing an exception out onto the L-D train tracks. I think it’s the lefties here driving the narrative on this on to try to salvage their candidate. To many on here, this assassination attempt is just fine as long as it’s not one of their side pulling the trigger. To me, fringe outcasts are becoming more tolerated on each side and that is not a good thing. This kid was obviously very troubled.

The bigger issue here is how did a 20 year old child get a rifle on the roof of a building 125 yards from a former presidents campaign stage? How is that roof not manned? How was that building not secured?

As for your anger comment, I will not debate that fringe righties are not angry people. But one in this board has to look no further than our own Jo, 960608, and a few others to see anger issues as well. This issue with the front extremes goes both ways.
