They had Shaq and Stanley Roberts on the floor at the same time. Roberts was even bigger than Shaq. Sat courtside and their size was increxible.
I was at that game from the opening tip. It was a sparse crowd. Once it became apparent that the Gators were making a game of it the student sections started filling up. At 6' 7" Dwayne Davis was matched up with Stanley Roberts and Shaq. Good thing Dale Brown (one of the most over-rated coaches of all time) was the LSU coach. I am going to piss off a lot of folks but DeVoe was actually a solid coach. He had a great record at UT and was forced out so that they could hire Wade Houston who had a tremendously talented son. Normally you hire the dad or the high school coach as an assistant to land such a player but Alan Houston was a better talent than that. Not as big as LSU hiring Press Maravich to get The Pistol but the same kind of idea. And Alan was a great player but not THAT great. DeVoe did a great job coaching Navy later, BTW. He did know the game. He had just the wrong temperament to deal with Dwayne S. DeVoe was correct that Dwayne S needed to lose some weight, BTW.
