HOF player Dick Butkus, one of the genuine legends of the game, dead at 80. The Bears added ... "Dick was the ultimate Bear, and one of the greatest players in NFL history. He was Chicago's son. He exuded what our great city is about and, not coincidently, what George Halas looked for in a player: toughness, smarts, instincts, passion and leadership." The statement continued ... "He refused to accept anything less than the best from himself, or from his teammates." Dick Butkus, Bears legend and Hall of Fame linebacker, dies at age 80
“He was a well-conditioned animal, and every time he hit you, he tried to put you in the cemetery…….” Deacon Jones on Dick Butkus Back when I cared about the NFL the Bears were my team. I became a Bears fan because of their history, Butkus cast a giant shadow over that history. It’s a sad day. Bear Down and Godspeed Mr Butkus.
Don't understand why Miller got away from those commercials. They were entertaining and Miller Lite outsold all the other light beers combined at the time. RIP
Hard to believe that with Sayers on Off and Butkus on Def they only had 1 winning season from 65-71. Both were rookies in 65.
The first comment on the video page: "I can’t think of a pro athlete now who is as made for TV as Dick Butkus was. RIP" BTW....is that Coach Spurrier on the cover?
Yep, a true legend. Many will recognize him for this work in the commercial/film industry, but Dick Butkus was one of those "broke the mold" players. He's a throwback, but in the legitimately legendary sense of players like Jim Brown, Joe Greene, and Deacon Jones. NFL 100: Our full list of greatest players of all time
The Bears as a franchise are QB problems, that is the most defining feature. Kyle Trask in 2020 with 12 games passed for 445 more yards in a single season than any Bear QB in history.
