DHS Claws Back $59 Million FEMA Sent to NYC Hotels to Shelter Illegal Immigrants

The Department of Homeland Security recovered $59 million of taxpayer funds the Federal Emergency Management Administration sent to hotels in New York City to shelter illegal immigrants.

DHS clawed back the payment Wednesday after firing four FEMA staffers Tuesday for making the payment in subversion of agency leadership and the Trump administration’s broader agenda, as National Review previously reported.

“FEMA was funding the Roosevelt Hotel that serves as a Tren de Aragua base of operations & was used to house Laken Riley’s killer. There will not be a single penny spent that goes against the interest and safety of the American people.”

McLaughin was referring to violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which has built up a presence in multiple American cities due to the Biden administration’s soft approach towards immigration enforcement, and the Venezuelan illegal immigrant who murdered Georgia nursing student Laken Riley last February.

This is great news. Trump and awesome team are taking back America

‘Gross Insubordination’: FEMA Hit With More Layoffs

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has terminated four employees from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) over allegations of unauthorized payments totaling $59 million to New York City hotels for housing migrants. DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stated, “Effective immediately, FEMA is terminating the employment of four individuals for circumventing leadership to unilaterally make egregious payments for luxury NYC hotels for migrants. Firings include FEMA’s Chief Financial Officer, two program analysts, and a grant specialist.”

McLaughlin added, “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, DHS will not sit idly and allow deep state activists to undermine the will and safety of the American people.”

Following the terminations, FEMA announced a suspension of further payments to New York City, although city officials reported no prior notification of this change.

The firings coincided with claims from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) that the payments violated presidential directives, asserting that funds intended for disaster relief were improperly allocated to luxury accommodations for migrants. Musk wrote, “The @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.”
