I put this in my other thread, but Desmond, The First Annual Thighsman Award Winner, deserves his own thread. The Thighsman Award
Love this!!!! But still confounded: how does the puny SC quarterback bring him down at the end of the play? Wish he would have trucked him, how cool would that have been?
The postgame presser was great. Napier and each of the players' faces lit up with a huge smile at the mention of Dez on that play. Love to see it.
Nice article on Dez here with some eye catching stats… Florida football: Desmond Watson, a mountain of a man, leads surging Gators defense “With Cox gone, Florida defensive coordinator Patrick Toney has shuffled some rotations, and 1 net outcome is that Watson has played more snaps in the past 6 quarters than in the previous 12 combined.” “Watson was on the field for all 3 turnovers the Gators forced Saturday against South Carolina, a number that helped Florida increase its 2022 turnover margin to plus-18, a number that is good enough for 11th in the country and 2nd-best in the SEC. A good chunk of those turnovers have come since the Georgia game, with Florida forcing 8 turnovers against Georgia, Texas A&M and South Carolina combined.”
The article lists his weight as 380-440 pounds (depending on what he had for breakfast) but later mentions that he lost 60 pounds since he arrived on campus. How much does he really weigh?
I love CBN, ya'll know that, but I will be seriously pissed if we dont see some red zone offense featuring big Dez. (Ala Fridge) Dez gotta eat to ya know!!!
Coach said 435 yesterday in PC. Said since Fall camp he's been very disciplined but had a rough off season. I guess he meant related to eating and weight. Said he is very dedicated and smart, a good teammate. I hope this off season he can remain plugged in to UF S/C and nutrition and lose another 50 by kickoff 2023. It would help if he is in Gainesville and has supportive people around him.
FYI in the same press conference CBN said that Dez has only scratched the surface of his true potential and if he stays on track will be a very very good player for the Gators!!
Watson impressed me when he switched the ball from his right hand to his left as he headed towards the sideline. His football IQ must be great. I agree with Napier… scratching the surface indeed.
I heard AR was working with him trying to teach him that double handspring back flip...that would be impressive.
