I'm good with looking at inefficiency and waste but not sure why we needed a new task force or whatever it is if there is an existing one already. We know that DeSantis has been getting some push back from the Republican legislature on some things, and it's possible this is an effort for DeSantis to get some headlines and signal that he continues to support Trump's agenda. I also think at both Federal and State levels - these sorts of internal audits might be a mechanism to gather data to later justify sacking certain people or programs who step out of line.

But do you trust DeSantis to investigate the State objectively, or rather, with the intent to continue his War of Hate.

That headline is misleading of course. A lot of the article is based on opinion and does not provide the names of the insurance companies or the General Management companies. It also does not provide the actual numbers for any companies doing business in Florida. There is a major cost in taking care of claims and handling legal and admin along with others parts of the operation of any insurance company is going to take some major money and a lot of that is done by the parent company or general management. In the "opinion" of someone the charges were to much from some unnamed companies and the investors made money from the parent companies. No names or audits are provided.

So what! If the writing of insurance was that profitable insurance companies would be tripping over each other to write new business and other companies would be coming to Florida to get their share. Most of the major insurance companies stopped writing homes years ago and many like Farmers and Country Companies have left the state in the last 10 years. As it is things are just the opposite in Florida, where it is not a matter of price but just finding a company that will insure your home most times.

It's a way for him to show that he's on board, but that his implementation is smarter and better than MAGA's. There's definitely some heat here. See his comments dismissing the dude Trumps wants to run for Governor.

IMO, DeSantis does not like Trump at all, thinks he's an idiot and believes he's a much better person to run the movement. Problem is, he's a terrible campaigner. I mean, this is pointless and will gain him ZERO traction. If he was taking over after decades of D rule, then I get it. But we haven't had a D governor since the 90s and a D House and/or Senate since the 70s. So, what's the point? Eliminate your own (or Scott's) waste and corruption?

I'm sure anyone will insure you . . . for the right price! It's probably just not worth offering it as the price would be so high as to negatively reflect on the company overall. "Sure, we'll insure your home. . . for 50K/Year!"

Of course they would but insurance rates have to be approved by the state of Florida for admitted companies. Surplus companies have more freedom but a person would only use them as a last resort for home insurance.
