Damn, they were still playing when I heard that joke. Niekros got to 539, Youngs only had 511.

Joe Nuxhall pitched for the Reds when he was still in high school. He needed a pass from his principal to leave school early for weekday day games.

It was during WWII, but still.

Bob Feller went straight from HS to MLB IIRC. At age 17.

  4. Pinch hit tonight and had 2 at bats/few innings in the field. Hope he's doing okay considering he's not starting on a team that's 1-8 in the SEC.

A lot of SEC starters wouldnt play much for AU offense,,but Id take the last 3 off everyones pitching staff..lol Although as young and bad as the pitching has been, still not last in SEC ERA somehow..;) not even close.

AU is scoring 'almost' as many off elite pitching, as elite offenses are scoring off their horrid pitching...almost..lol 36 runs in 6 games off the #1 & 2 ERAs in country..which includes a 0 vs Hagan Smith.

1-8 ,, been here before(most every year due to scheduling) and have hosted/made CWS...AUs first 5 SEC opponets are curently 31-12 in sec. Last 5 are 14-29

Was hoping , not expecting Fabian to come in and hit 350 w/ 20 HR.. but he is currently a distant 3rd at 3B/2b options. Both the other options had HRs this weekend including the 'defense only' guy. I would just put Gavin Miller(ph HR in 9th lastnight) there and deal w/ the few Es he may make. By far best bat of the 3. Let Fabian platoon at 2b, w/ the other 2 light hitters.
