IMO, it means he won't leave at the end of the season. Thank God he has "that game" to give him a drive for more.
Early on he had 2 or 3 empty trips in a row on offense and I asked in the game thread why he thought he was Kobe. He shut me the heck up. Great game and kept us in it until the usual players woke up.
When DA hit his first 3 you could see how excited and relieved he was that it went in. By the time he got his 3rd, he was making the "ice in the veins" gesture, lol.
All year long, I've been saying Denzel needs to play! Today, he just scratched the surface. Kid's a player! Better late than never, I guess. Kudos to Todd for giving him a chance to play extended minutes in a crucial game.
Complete surprise as I had started to write him off. Aberdeen, Condon, Haugh have all gotten better, for this I am grateful. go young Gators because all three could be stars…
I’m interested to see how he develops. I thought he could break out early in the season while Pullin sat, but he looked nervous and sped up, made bad decisions in the half court, and couldn’t find a groove. Defense was always good, is a terrific athlete, but didn’t look like he could be a point guard in this system. The confidence coaches have shown in him tells me something, though. We’ll see how the roster comes together, but right now I like him most as a bench defender and secondary ball handler (essentially the role Kugel played most of the season).
For this season, yes absolutely. If he’s here next season as a junior I’d expect him to be much improved and challenging for a starting job. The portal might send some top talent our way, though. I think a lot of kids have to be very intrigued looking at Golden and our program.
sometimes all he takes for these youngins is to hit 1-2 shots and suddenly their confidence is through the roof...we saw a different Aberdeen today, a very confident and assertive one
