Dem Ga Congressman makes very negative remark

I’m guessing you haven’t watched the video if you buy the post-hearing damage control. There is zero indication that he was being cute, sarcastic, or dead-pan. It was just a dumb thing to say. Just like this was a dumb to say. No one would casually dismiss the words of a white Congressman who said, “Well, white people are no longer intellectually suited for the fields,” no matter the context.

 

I watched it and I agree he’s not very good at humor but I’m not dumb enough to believe he wasn’t joking. Again anyone who thinks he was being serious about Guam tipping over either wants desperately to believe he was being serious, or they’re too gullible to take to a comedy club.

 

You are 100% correct- this was a dumb thing to say. Even if we assume decent intentions, it's dumb to throw out strange, racially speculative comments, even if they may be intended as discussion starters of sorts.

And now we can address the hypocrisy of someone (the OP) starting a thread about a dumb racial comment ..... when they voted for someone who had a central election campaign plank of intentionally telling racist lies.

The hypocrisy is merely amusing at this point. It's past the point of being sad.
