I fully acknowledge I’m old. I like the college coaches that didn’t have multi-million dollar contracts, in both college basketball & football. The old barnstormers who symbolized this program & product. Their style of play was synonymous with their names. SOS tossing that visor, Old stone-faced Stallings at Bama, Snellenberger drawing a fence around South Florida, Louie & his sweater, 40 minutes of Hell, Sanderson & the plaid jacket, Denny Crum and run til they drop. The Coaches were as much fun as the games. They were theater. Love’em, hate’em, didn’t matter. Now, we’ve got “ on-brand coaching”. It’s more flash than substance. Who’s got the bigger NIL group? Who can buy and accumulate the most talent, both on the field and on the sidelines? I still like both College Football & College Basketball. I just don’t enjoy it like I used to. My heart & passion for it just isn’t there like it once was. I’d say that, even if we were winning more. I’m not saying anything negative about the current state of affairs in football or basketball, change is just change and it’s coming no matter what. Back in the day, I’d stay up late, just to watch a St Johns vs Villanova, just for what might happen during the game. During football season, my Saturday schedule would be made around the matchups that day. Not anymore.
Wanne, I think he does. As bad as NE has been since Brady left, no one will say out loud how poorly he’s performed as a GM and coach. Since splitting with NE, questions about his GM capabilities & coaching approach is just starting to be questioned. No one still says “ cheater”, when discussing the great run he had as a coach.
He may be your type of guy and you dig his personality. Some us are on a different plane and that’s ok .
Coaches and players being successful go hand in hand. Most nfl coaches are pretty damn good at their jobs. Tge ones that have great players tend to win just like college. There’s no mysterious x and o machine in these guys head that all the others can’t figure out.
He’s the same guy he’s always been, he’s just being shoved down our throats now. This is the backlash you get from the media pumping every move he makes.
A college football coach making an appearance on a little-known podcast to discuss football and answer questions about his players/son doesn’t seem like “being shoved down our throats” to me, but hey what do I know.
I see you couldn’t refute anything I said about Belicheat being a well-known and proven cheater. Ha ha ha ha.
So Bizarre that some people are concerned with Gator fans' opinions about a former fsu player turned coach. They have no problem "hating" on other coaches like Dabo, Jimbo, Kirby and others but as soon as a criticism of Deion shows up from someone else it has to be agenda driven.... FTR, in regards to sports "hate" I have Kirby, Jimbo, Bowden, Osborne in a top tier sleezeball category of their own but I appreciate why Gator fans don't like deion. I thought the Deion coverage was so far over the top and yeah, I think he made a mockery of the college experience when he was in school. I don't "hate" deion but I hated the hype and the pass he gave for changing his HBC motives narrative in less than a year while taking the top talent from his prior team in the process. Guess that makes me a "real one" too.
The only time I've really heard about him since week 5 or 6 of the college football season is when you all make a thread about him.
I have never made a thread about him, and put most of the people who started the non stop threads about him on ignore.
