My take on the football forum:

The average poster is “discouraged” from starting new threads, but instead to add to old ones. Therefore the new threads are usually the newsworthy or sensitive in nature topics and are often trolled to no end by the same group of members. Thus we have what we have…not a lot of quality discussion and an endless loop of bickering.

The recruiting and basketball forums have more open discussions to me.
