It is actually pure speculation. Napier has been asked who is calling the plays since the bye week. His answer was “it’s a collaborative effort”. No one who actually knows for sure who is calling plays as clarified who is calling plays. Anything we hear outside of the staff is speculation. I heard it is Armstrong calling plays because prior to the bye week we played 2 high safeties all the time, which is a staple of Robert’s. We also were playing minus players in the box which we never did last year. Post bye we are out of the two high shell and playing even numbers in the box, a staple of Armstrong. But…the source didn’t know…was just speculating based on the type of defense being played.
What, you mean people post stuff on message boards that isn't 100% accurate? I just can't believe it. In all seriousness, thanks for the update. Doesn't seem like who calls the defensive plays is something that should be held as a state secret.
The biggest problem with our defense is our schedule. I would venture to say that there will be several teams in the CFP who wouldn’t be in if they had our schedule. Let me put this another way: Have you ever noticed how few teams in the Top 10 have played each other in the regular season?
