If McClellan comes, we have two great DTs in this class.

Agree. We have a slew of DL leaving after this year. Opportunity for early playing time

Nah, was mismanagement. Our DC came with Mullen and both he and Mullen are responsible for defensive recruiting.

The other thing about our non quals is that it seems to show Admissions is or was trying to help as back in the Spurrier days we couldn’t have borderlines visit.

Not like they are lining up, but it’s not over. Under Mullen we have had the luxury of the delusion that Mullen intentionally misses so that he can pull from the portal.

Again, we had 2 academic kids in that class......one was Diwun Black and we all knew the story. He was unlikely to make it but we signed and placed. Henderson was just a late shot in the dark, no harm no foul.

Admissions has always allowed a kid to visit if they have a "path" to qualify. I've seen no evidence that has substantially changed.

    DTs don't often play early.

I must be thinking of the wrong cycle.

I understand that. This is why I wrote what I did. Short of us grabbing portal guys, which we may very well do, we have Dexter and then everyone else that barely played or played not at all. There will be snaps to grab and this young man is advanced at this point.
    Dexter- starter
    Watson- barely plays
Lee- not much experience at all
    Humphries-?
    Goods-?
    Thomas-?

we will grab at least 1 portal guy. After that don’t be shocked to see a guy like McClellan playing 15 snaps a game due to no experience from others.

Then you must have big hopes for Mullen and Grantham recruiting since they turned the switch on DT recruiting so quickly once Turner got here. /s

I think that's just a huge number for a true freshman. Did Dexter even average 15 plays a game last year? Definitely possible, but he'd have to be pretty special.

yea Dex had a good amount of PT every game last year. I think he played more out of necessity though since our depth was shotty

Also lacked a spring practice. I do think guys like Thomas, Boone, and Sapp will get huge benefits from this spring....that's 3 big bodies to go with Dex, Watson, Lee

1 big body and 2 bigger bodies! We need to get where Boone and Sapp are SSDE and guys like princely are WDE unless we find a smaller unicorn guy who can det the edge and get consistent pressure from WDE.

I would even go so far as to say we need Thomas and Watson and depth behind them at 6'5" so Dexter can slip out to DE. If we had a taller WDE, we could make QB's lives hard at getting their passes over the line of scrimmage.

I think Boone could be that guy at DE..... really disappointed Princely hasn't made that leap this year. Him, Bogle, and even Summerall have dropped off the map

Not given chances imo but i understand why you’d say that aka “make the most of your chances” and they haven’t necessarily done that

I am worried it's not princely. He's not gonna get reps behind Carter, and the coaches aren't getting creative. I still think with his first step he could handle WDE.

It's not like Cox is being so disruptive and setting the edge that his place is unassailable from Bogle and Summerall. Carter is another story, but he can move inside on 3rd and longs to let Princely get some snaps.

I’m not sure how to reconcile it other than to look at where we are at all positions this cycle.
