I don’t know, but he’ll be job searching at the end of the year too. UF desperately needs another Jonathan Greenard type.
I would argue your point,..as the offensive play caller it’s his responsibility to outscore your opponent, which means some weeks more points needed than others. Offense owns these losses also.
You’re right, gotta get more guys at the line defensively to have a chance. If they beat us in the air because we are aggressive scheme wise, I’m OK with that. We cannot allow teams to run on us like we did today and the other losses this year
Anyone who doesn't instantly say safety is our biggest issue isn't watching the game. Could make a highlight reel of replays from the endzone view of 12 just falling past the RB. Bridges at least plays aggressive and has toughness, should be an every down player on this D.
It will be a big part against any average or better defense. The O and D being bad are not mutually exclusive.
If you do not have a defensive line you will never have a secondary. We have 4 players on that line who can not get any pressure and they can not stop the push of the run. Yes safety has been terrible and is out of position, constantly, but that is coaching... or bench him.
Maybe my memory is failing but I recall last years defense couldn’t stop anyone; utterly pathetic and guys were woefully out of position time and time again. It was as bad as Grantham and often worse. This year’s defense reminds me of last year. It’s hard for me to say which year was worse because they both are so atrocious. Without looking at stats, I am thinking this years defense is slightly better. I certainly don’t know the remedy but I would not plug Armstrong in.
Good question. Why did they say Armstrong is an up and comer? Why was Corey Raymond reputed to be a great hire? Why are we hiring substandard coaches from smaller leagues?
You may be confusing secondary with safety. Our CBs have been decent, Marshall has been an outlier with his terrific play. Denson and Gates at star have also been ok with flashes. DL is not good, but they look worse with no run fit from LB/S. Pass rush is a close second for worst part of D.
Follow up on the stats. Last year UF finished with a Yards per play against of 6.5. Coming into today it was 7.2. It will actually go down after today's 5.3. This was our best D game against an FBS opponent by a wide margin. I understand it's just one stat, but it's very indicative of a teams performance. It's not like we are forcing turnovers to counter act it. Teams Yards per play on offense still on our schedule: Ole Miss 8.4 Tenn 8.1 Texas 7.3 UCF 7.1 all top 20 UF 5.0 as an FYI
