Maybe its just me, but it's like our DTs stand straight up at the snap. Pad level matters on the line. Or at least I think it does. I also don't think it helps that we just continue to sit 2 high safeties even when there's reason to bring them into the box. I am 100% on board to just let Armstrong make the calls. While I am at it, give Callaway the play calls on the other side of the ball even though the O did fine today. MSU defense was just awful.
I thought the source of the rot was Spencer and Raymond? How many chances should this guy get before people realize he shouldn’t be a head ball coach in the SEC?
James was out and our LB core and secondary was a mess last year. The LSU QB made a lot of defenses look silly. I remember he broke a lot of tackles/made our players miss when they were in position to make a play. I think this current group would perform better in that respect.
We don’t have the talent we used to have either. Name one player, besides Marshall maybe, that an opposing OC game plans around.
They will be favored. They’ve already beaten us very recently. Everybody knows we are not the mighty Gators anymore. Gator nation will be mad, but not surprised if we lose.
I am beginning to think that maybe those two old respected defensive coaches realized they were on the titanic. I have also thought in the past that perhaps our boy wonder defensive coordinator ticked them off in someway
No. We played a bad, very bad, no good, horrible team. Playing them means nothing about playing better or how we match up with average teams like aTm and Kentucky much less the elite teams we'll play. Edge gave no pressure again, DT were bad, secondary outside of Marshall (one of his best games) and Bridges was really bad.
I can't enjoy anything about that defense but some of the talent. How the talent has been used on offense and defense disturbs me. We could be so much different. I think only one of their TE would be someone who would be someone we would pursue. We were so superior in raw talent to them. I get no pleasure in beating hapless teams like Hail State.
The Gator D is very weak up front, virtually no edge presence either. That then exposes the deficiencies in the back end. 2 DC’s too, at over $2mil. smh The Geoff Collins defense got torched for 70 today, by James Madison.
