During the bye week, we really need to make a defensive change somewhere for the sake of the defensive players who appear to be playing hard. It isn't working and there has been zero improvement since week one. Probably D-line or DC (not really needed anymore with Roberts in place). Billy is going to lose his job if he doesn't strongly address the defensive woes.
Did I hear the announcer correctly that Billy stepped in to be involved on the defensive side this season?
LMAO. Someone please let Billy know he’s going to lose his job if he “doesn’t strongly address the defensive woes”.
Our batting average on DCs is woeful. Geoff Collins was maybe our last decent one. Speaking of ol' Geoff, rough day for him at UNC.
The positive, such as it is, is that he is focusing on making changes. Kind of goes without saying that he has to and must know it, but one can always hold onto a sliver of hope that they can turn the season around. There seems to be an attitude of hoping we lose so he will get fired but I never want the Gators to lose. Ever. Fix it if you can, come what may.
I hope we enjoy this win. And hopefully we win next Saturday too (you never know with this team). But unfortunately after that, I see LOTS more pain incoming. I'm predicting now that Billy is let go after the UCF game. That game is going to be absolutely brutal on this defense. Three straight embarrassing home losses will be the final straw. Here's the fun coming our way... And that's BEFORE the top 10 opponents.
Some seem to believe that if you credit any portion of this team it's an endorsement of keeping Billy. So dumb.
Are you saying how we line up or a coaching change during the season? If a coaching change, who? Promote up an analyst? I don't think you can bring in a coach not on the staff mid season.
Remove someone(or several) for the sake of showing the players you care. Do not just keep doing the same thing with the same people, schemes, etc.
Say what you will about our defense last year, but they were put in a position to succeed and were unable to do it. The loss of James last year at LB was when the defense started its slide. Compare that to this year where our players are out of position most of the time, even though the talent is arguably better and deeper than last year. Roberts has been the defensive play caller to this point in the season, and this mess is on his head. He is calling a bend don’t break defense, and isalways reacting to the offense. I would say give Armstrong a chance to call the defense again and see if he can’t light a fire and call a more aggressive scheme.
I still see some holding out hope for the UCF game. And while it's a winnable game for sure, considering our schedule, we just do NOT match up well with them. They will run downhill on this D.
