While I agree with you, it’s not good to lose your last game of the regular season. But, clearly Ga is one of the top 4 teams. Hats off to them for moving on and especially for dismantling F$U!
No, it's not good, but context ought to have dictated that they were stii at least, one of the 4 best teams, period. Personally, I think Kirby should sqwauked loudly, and campaigned hard for being in the top 4, like Urbs did for us in 06, to be tapped over Michigan. ...but to hear FSU whine, was beyond pathetic. Their case was a joke. As I addressed the issue outside of here--who the hell would you screw out of the top 4 to make room for the ACC chump, besides UGA (already)?!?!? I mean damn....if anybody EVER got screwed worse than UGA this year, I damn sure don't remember. Maybe Notre Dame, FOR FSU in 93 (ND won head to head, same rec...). @$#%! FSU... ...and to hell with Georgia. A somewhat pleasing ending to another miserable season... Wait til next year! (here we go again...).
I see no point in speculating. Let's see how it plays out. Miami *may* be a harbinger... It may just as well mean next to nothing, win lose or draw, vs the rest of the season. Eg-- if we lost to Miami, but still won the east, looked competent, and appeared to have an upward trajectory, Billy earns his keep and at least another year, and the Miami game would just be another sour memory. Jmho/fwiw.
if we lose to Miami we won't win the East. We probably going to lose the last 5 games. So, we need to go 6-1 in the first 7 games meaning Miami is a must win.
We throttled Miami in game 1 of the '83 season. They went on to win Natty. Nothing is conclusive by the first game--and if nothing else, there’s going to be a fair amount of adjusting early on next year, due to the departures.
And it being a home game and them coming off an embarrassing bowl loss is crucial for the program & Billy not to fumble away. Ali definitely speaks truth, I love her show! With Mertz back & a healthy Wilson I think we win comfortably, I just pray it's with a creative OC to boot!
While I totally agree with your point, IF miami beats us in the Swamp game #1 the noise will be so deafening it would probably be unrecoverable. Miami is in a MUCH worse situation than we are honestly. The ONLY reason they were bowl eligible is their baby sh*t soft schedule. Billy absolutely can NOT lose to Mario & that terrible team he runs.
It’s all fans do on a message board- speculate. Will simply offer a bit more perspective. As of this very moment, Miami ranks as the 8th toughest game on our 2024 schedule. A lot of things can/will change between Jan 1 and Aug 31, but as of this very moment on Jan 1 given how 2023 went, Miami cannot crack the Top 7 of our 2024 opponent list. If we don’t beat the 8th hardest opponent on our schedule at home, the season is likely to go south. Example: 2023 season and loss to Arkansas.
Miami landed a top 3 recruiting class this year, and #7:last year. IF we lose, I'll be looking hard at how we lost, b4 drawing any conclusions. But I do not agree with your assessment of where they rank on our schedule. Respectfully.
Again, losing to Miami may not be why Napier eventually gets fired. Just hard to envision him losing that game and finding 7 or more wins in the rest of the schedule.
Ironically, today all the DelusioNOLEs are comparing themselves to the undefeated teams playing for the Natty as to why they should've been in the CFP. When they should be comparing themselves to Liberty as why they were not..
Figured this was coming from their delusional fan base. They are super special breed thinking they could compete with any of those 4 teams. They would have struggled even with Travis, yes they would have stood a better chance but even full strength they struggled with mediocre to bad teams this year.
