It looks like Ole Miss has opened up its vault A&M style for Kiffin to get portal players to make a run in 2024. Now if that came to naught, then Kiffy-poo might get a wandering eye. For all his success on the field at Ole Miss, their HS recruiting hasn't been that good (in the 20's ranking per 247).

I am still miffed (and will continue to be) about little willie's mouthing off when he was introduced as Auburn's DC but as a decent man, I do not hold any grudges. His beaming seeing his son make plays was really nice.

This is just a plain silly take. It goes too far back to make anyone take notice. Let me assist you.

We lost to UGa this year by scoring 20 points while giving up 43 (a 23 point loss). We lost to FSU by scoring 15 points while giving up 24 (a 9 point loss). FSU lost to an UGa team who was not eligible to be in the playoffs because they did not win the conference championship game (while the rest did) by 60 points and did not score anything close to the 20 points we scored against UGa.

As we all should know, FSU WAS a contender for the NC. Had they played, they probably would have played Michigan and maybe won it because Michigan does not win playoff games. They then would have likely lost to a Bama or Washington team in the NC game. Therefore, it is plausible that they could have been "crowned" second place in all of major college football.

BUT, since they lost to UGa WAY more than we did, it is ALSO inferred that we could then be considered the 3rd best team all of college football due to our being better prepared against an obviously less deserving UGa team.


So, Napier delivered us the #3 ranked team this year. Yay!!!!

He just isn't major college football HC material. He should be a HC at a UAB level of program. But his pride holds him back. It is a shame.

I would not categorize it as "blowing up" as much as an educated guess that did not pan out. And yes, JF thought he could do a "Donovan" in football and that would be his legacy. And in my mind, his biggest brain fart was Mac. That to me dropped his legacy WAY down.

 

Well we're already paying players millions of dollars to come play at UF, so it seems like we are already headed down that path.

 

More like dragged in that direction by a CFB world gone mad. I get it though; we aren't so hot at FB anymore and that really sucks. But the voluntary forfeiture of all institutional integrity by one of the finest public universities in the country is not the answer. And as for the legion of schools who have or eventually will "sell out" - when you got nothin', you got nothin' to lose.

I've already been slammed for this statement but if both mullen and muscamp hadn't been head coaches for us they would be great as an OC and DC respectively. Know it can't happen, but..........

Mullen doesn't know how to run a program but he knows how to develop QB's and crack defenses.

In 2013 we had a defense good enough to compete with anyone and a completely inept offense. Muschamp could coach defenses but doesn't know how to run a program either.

Nonsense. Even he said he was deficient when it came to pass blocking. His pass blocking was about as poor as Deion's tackling.
