Our 1996 Fiesta Bowl loss to Nebraska has been officially upgraded to a moral victory.

 

Dang! The Noles somehow came out shining from that game. It’s unbelievable! Yep, they go down in the record books owning the worst loss in bowl history!

Brings up an interesting debate.

We all saw how the team full of F$U mercenaries opted out. The team was mostly transfers, came in for one season, no playoff. Norvell still did a good job coaching them. Now the roster has been gutted.

UGA on the other hand has stacked elite HS talent on top of elite HS talent for the past 8 years. Kirby was doing tbis before NIL and before the portal was a “thing.” Easier to maintain than to do from scratch.

No doubt Billy is after Kirby’s approach. Seems to be the sustainable approach. The question is can it be accomplished in the era of NIL/portal? We had an amazing class a month ago, then it was gutted. Our record didn’t help but a lot of our losses were NIL related.

Still hopeful the slow and steady wins the race for Billy.

 

It seriously would depend on who they brought in to replace Napier. If they were able to convince Kiffin to take over, for instance, then I think all of Napier’s players would stay. And Kiffin would start winning and bringing in recruits immediately, without excuse.

 

Gotta replace Stricklin and a lot of UAA red tape for this to happen.

 

Glad our guys hung in there in our two previous bowl games vs Ou and ORGY STATE.

 

Kiffin just made over 9.5 Million this year with his bowl win and 11 game season. He would need a lot to be convinced to leave Ole Miss.

 

And that would seriously depend on the degree of bad coaching we were to see next season. I hope we don’t find out what kind of catastrophe it would take to make that happen.

 

Everyone has a price. And Ole Miss is pretty much at its ceiling of what it can accomplish, no matter who is coaching there. It’s not a destination spot for a head coach.

 

We were full of bad coaching this year. Other than the talent disparity vs UGA, our other losses all fall squarely on bad coaching.

 

I am in violent agreement.

 

Sure but Kiffin is set up for success there for the next few years. With that success per his contract, he will be making over 10 million a year and not have the stress that Florida would place on him.
He is in a sweet spot right now, similar to Stoops. Win or get close and you get paid and they will love you for it.

 

Does Norvell have his own highlight show, game recap, with a guy like Gene Deckerhoff? That should be priceless if so...... I'm sure it would be edited Bahgdad Bob style for the spin and would be hilarious to watch........

So knowing what you know about Kiffin, you think he has arrived and is not already looking for the next challenge? I think some bigger school, sick of its current lot in life, or an NFL team, is going to open the bank vault to Kiffin by the end of next season. And I would be fairly to moderately pissed if it’s not us after a third consecutive losing season under Napier.

 

I thought their band left after the half time performance in order to beat the traffic?

 

I don't disagree, I'm just saying the pot will have to be very tasty for him to leave his current set up.

 

Just announced that everyone involved with the highlight show has come down with Covid and are “isolating”. The show has been cancelled.
