Funny i have heard both sides of the argument on CNBC the last few weeks.
My take home is they really don’t know what way things will go.
Two markets right now the NASDAQ running due to the AI hype and the Dow dragging along due to recession and slow do fears(with some pulling money from now to the other in hopes of big gains. FOMO is a fun wave to ride until it crashes.
I’m happy as I jumped at AMD in the low 60’s in Jan as well as MRVL and both have had good runs.

Higher rates have pulled cash from the market for the nice 5% yield with no risk, no debating that.

I, along with the majority of the US voting population, will take "Sleepy Joe" over "Unwoke DeSaster," thank you very much.

The deal he ended up getting was pretty much the same deal he would have gotten even if the debt ceiling weren't in play. To know who the winners and losers are, all you have to do is look at the reaction to this from the hard right-wingers in the House.

Although in all honesty there are also a number of progressives in the House who aren't exactly pleased with the compromise. I suspect that when the House finally votes on the deal it will be passed by a coalition of relatively moderate Republicans and Democrats with members on the extreme in both parties voting against it.

True, but there are more far right-wingers in the House than far left-wingers. It will be interesting to see how the vote falls. It will also be interesting to see McCarthy's fate, since he made it so easy for them to call a new vote for speaker of the house.

Some of the same hard right wingers who had a fit when they didn’t get what they wanted when Obama and the Pubs came up with sequestration. Thankfully I could give a crap about what those asshats say.

You’ll be lucky if Biden is around in 18 months.
Sadly I’m afraid the Trump will be the nominee for the pubs.
I may need to switch my party affiliation to vote against him in the primary.

Why lucky? Biden appears to be in far better health than an overweight trump and even Mcconnell for that matter.

I agree and frankly we need more voting outcomes like that going forward. We can't be ruled by the extremes on either side.

Perhaps to your untrained eye he does.
I wasn’t talking about Trumps health by the way, he looks like crap too.

I didn't want Trump to run again. And I'm hoping DeSantis will knock him out. But if he does get the nomination without any hesitation he'd get my vote over any whack liberal

Not necessarily, they just aren’t serious people. Which is why Biden really shouldn’t have negotiated at all. The only real issue is McCarthy needing to save face to remain speaker. Surely at the end of the day you could get the moderate R’s to do a clean debt ceiling, and fight these same battles when it comes to the budget (using govt shutdown as leverage).

Problem is McCarthy wouldn’t bring that for a vote. Would he sit there and drive the nation over the cliff -driving the nation into default - just to try and remain speaker. Or would he resign? Biden basically did him a favor by negotiating a thing that should be 100% non-negotiable. It allows McCarthy to save face.

Yeah this deal is a disaster for Republicans. They have 2 choices now. Pass it, which many of them don't want to do, or don't pass it and take the complete blame for a default that will be disastrous for the country.

Didn't they put some of kind kill switch into McCarthy's speakership where any member can call a vote for his ouster..

It probably has enough dems and reps votes to pass, but I wonder if someone is going to try to block McCarthy from calling it to vote.

It got past the committee vote, which might have been the biggest hurdle. As part of the McCarthy speaker compromises it was loaded with further right folks.
Should pass the house unless things blow up.
Next hurdle will be a Mike Lee potentially holding it up int the senate. He has said he would.

but odds of passage look decent as of now.

if it does pass, then McCarthy’s future will be next. Will depend on how many republicans he wrangles for the vote. If it’s less than half his caucus he may be in trouble.

Guys a machine. Rides 25 miles at a time. Trump can’t even drive a golf cart 25 miles and wears a diaper.

    Troubling…
