I never intend to leave where I am now except maybe to retire in Florida someday, but I would live in San Diego in a heartbeat if I had no ties.

It may be my favorite city in America.

A trip to Imperial Beach is on my bucket list since the short lived HBO series John from Cincinnati.

Every inch of that coastline from Torey Pines to Coronado is like a postcard.

I read that for someone to be a squatter in Florida, he must have lived in the home continuously for 7 years. If that’s accurate, I doubt that there’s much of a squatter problem. You know what we really need to address in the legislature? It’s the Oba Chandler/ cinder block problem. That’s when someone takes people out on his boat, ties them to some cinder blocks, and throws them overboard. This is a big problem in Florida that requires new laws to solve the problem.

    That's an old case.

Last I checked murder is against the law in Florida. Haven’t read the statue in a while so maybe it’s been changed?

Very confused. You can be defined as a squatter almost immediately. The 7 year thing is how long someone has to be in adverse possession of the property in order to assert an ownership claim.

I’m confused. Oba chandler was found guilty of murdering Joan Rogers and her 2 daughters who were found floating in Tampa Bay? He was eventually executed.

Who are you referring to that hasn’t been found?

You are correct, I'd had my animals confused and edited my post. Thank you for catching my error.

I was thinking of Willie Seth Crane, Jr. He murdered Amanda Victoria Brown, age 7 at the time. It is that poor child's body whose body was never recovered and is likely off the Causeway. Crane was a fisherman and crabber.

The trial was broadcast live on CourtTV.

My sister's sister-in-law (her husband's sister) is married to an ex-cop (retired from San Diego) and he said it's not the same city it used to be, but maybe he had to deal with the bad area's of San Diego. Right after retiring they moved to Arizona. I have a cousin that loves it there... SHE'S been there for 40+ years with HER husband.

Homelessness is a problem in SD, as it is in evey large city, but as far as friendly people, great food, outdoor life, and incredible natural beauty, SD is hard to beat...

... And its more conservative than much of Cali.

He said the same thing about San Diego, but there is a steady creep into not so good and friendly happening in all California cities. They have two sons that went into the Marines (did their few years) and are now cops in San Diego. They're young and much more suited for the contrast there.

I just don't trust the state government in California. When I was a kid we lived there and I loved it, but that was a far and away distant time. When we got to California Willie Mays was still playing baseball.. Lol.

I hear ya, and I love LA but wouldnt want to live there, bit San Diego is a different story.

As for government... We are all one election from being in the same boat.

Heck even here is Bible belt, southern NC we have a liberal governor who I cant wait to see leave, but yet my overall life hasnt been impacted at all.

A new story from Kentucky, this one apparently involving a Gator (look at the T-shirt in the photo). A man allowed a female friend and her boyfriend to stay in his garage when their car broke down in the driveway. They extended their stay, changed the locks on the doors, installed cable, and had their mail sent to their "new address". No red flags there. The man asked them to leave, and they refused, saying that they had squatters rights. The owner put up an eviction notice, and then things got weird. One of the owner's roommates got into a fight with the squatter, and the squatter got a judge to grant an emergency protective order against the owner and the roommate, effectively throwing them out on the street homeless. In Kentucky, squatters that live in a house for 15 years can claim ownership of the house.

Kentucky man forced out of his own home after his friends claimed 'squatters rights' and got a court order
