Dabo Swinney goes ballistic on caller on radio show (watch the teaser titles please...)

Dabo is coming down from having Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence. Not sure that’s repeatable with NIL and transfer portal, but should be in ACC. I’m the only male on my dad’s side that didn’t go to Clemson in 4 generations, so I’ve had my finger on the pulse for 48 years. I went to Nc state, Wisconsin and Florida for my degrees and I’d say Clemson has the most loyal fans I’ve seen on the whole.

 

My friend worked in PR and had me call in to a talk show one of fee clients was on and ask a specific question. So it definitely happens.
As for this rant, seems way over the top even if he’s mostly right. Does feel kinda staged, or he has some really thin skin.

 

Do you think Dabo is faking the irritation with fans too?

 

The ones that are in in for the money and power( look at me), aren’t usually very good. The good ones usually don’t want the limelight so much. Then there’s Dion, all rules are made to be broken.

 

Lots of factors and most discussed are probably viable. More than likely all of the above and not a single factor or event causes him to go. It all probably just rode it’s course.

 

And if memory serves, Shane said this at the time as well. Many Gators objected to his opinion...

 

No one likes entitled idiots. It may not be the sole reason but idiots fans drain on everyone.

 

College football coaching, a profession that should one reach the top and win the playoffs is almost a death sentence for long term employment. At least with the same program.

Now that it has been close to 10 years from Swinney's first NC and 5 from his second, if you look at the overall teams, you can see the talent is not at the level of the top Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State teams. They were very much propped up by elite QBs. They additionally had some really good receivers and at times some really good defensive linemen, but they did not have offensive line and secondary players at the levels of the continuously top teams.

 

I don’t disagree with anything Dabo said, and I get why he said it, it just seems like kind of poor form to go on this epic rant. Bottom line the fan idiocy and passion is the reason these coaches pull 8 figures. If fans were content with 6-5 the urgency is not there to pay such ridiculous amounts of money.

 

I disagree in that everybody wants to go 13 and 0. Only one team can and everybody else has to realize that reality is involved. There are 20 to 40 teams that are actually trying to win and it’s not gonna work out for most of them and let alone their coaches. Sometimes a good coach loses four or five games.

 

Well, Clemson seems fired up, maybe because of Dabo’s blow up earlier this week. Who knows. But glad they’re up on Notre Dame. Hope they can seal the deal in the 2nd half and give Notre Dame a loss.

Funny how people call Dabo "idiot" and other names yet he's won so much at a place that certainly was not winning for many years.
If he's so stupid, then how is he doing better than so many that are supposedly so much smarter than he is??

The idiocy of some fans, and some posters, is almost beyond belief.
