D.R. Horton built a driveway through his property, so a Santa Rosa man put a pig pen on it (msn.com) He said after the company built through his property, there were some discussions of selling the land. But once the offer came back too low, Lewis built a pig pen on the driveway of one of the houses in order to bring D.R. Horton to the negotiation table. "I'm not trying to smash D.R. Horton by any means. I'm just trying to get compensated," Lewis said. Lewis purchased the land in 2010 for about $427,000. He said homes started getting built on the road a few months ago, adding that D.R. Horton works "extremely fast." "I (used) the pigs because of obvious reasons. They smell. They create an odor that's not pleasant," Lewis said. "I'm just, more or less, trying to put D.R. Horton on the spot ... and let's get this stuff going." That's awesome
Horton is like a virus. They are spreading and no vaccine or mask can stop them. I mean those greedy clowns could leave like one tree in their neighborhoods right?
It's amazing here in Gainesville it's like tree capital and they don't let anybody cut trees down without permits and they have to approve from 1st. The DR Horton has probably 5 to 6 neighborhoods going in and they cut every d*** tree down. I'll be in your neck of the woods on the 15th
Because county commissioners are drooling over the new tax base from the houses and will do whatever the large residential developers want.
I was once representing a property owner and had someone with the County tell me that Horton had a relationship with a County Commissioner and they were working together to try to take peoples' property via improper code enforcement. She told me that if she were ever asked, she would deny what she told me. That was pretty eye-opening and disturbing as a younger lawyer.
Back in the 80s D R Horton sent me a letter threatening to sue me. I had a small custom homebuilding business and a customer of mine wanted a Horton model built on a custom home lot. I refused to measure up another builders product but told the customer if he brought me the dimensions & pictures I would design anything he wanted. My house ended up looking more like a Horton house than their model. I did nothing wrong though, no stolen plans just measurements & photo's given to me. It's not like every house ever built isn't a copy of some other house in history. You can only do so much with 4 walls and a roof.
