Wonder if Sully already has someone in mind? Could he hire someone from Clemson staff that is being replaced now? No one there from Leggett coaching tree, as all were aligned to recently fired Monte Lee. If this was Saban, he would hire Monte as an Analyst for two years until his next head coaching gig.

I completely agree on infield play. Not sure on the rest. HOWEVER, when Thompson and Halter shifted positions, the infield play dramatically improved.

I don’t know anything about the inner workings here. Wish the best for Craig and obviously I hope UF lands a good one.

    Old university joke:

    If you can't do: Teach.

If you can't teach: Become dean.

Yogi Berra was for some time the hitting coach for the Yankees. He had no idea what to tell the batters and got frustrated. He just took a bat and took some swings and said "Do what I do".

The baseball movie The Natural should have been about Yogi. He was a natural talent.

Everybody could outsmart Yogi, but that was the wrong approach to him. He didn't think along with the pitcher. He played by instinct.

Imagine if we just do one of those three things… Just one and we may still be playing.

Weitzel was a huge reason we won in 18. Interesting that since then we haven’t quite been the same. I know the Cove a year we were 16 and one but we hadn’t got into the SEC schedule yet and I think we would’ve seen some of the concerning area/deficiencies show them self big time.

We have no approach to hitting. We need to hire someone off Schlossnagle's staff because they taught a crappy aggie team to hit. They ended up leading the league in hitting for conference play.

A lot of these players have professional hitting coaches outside of where they go to school. For example, my son used to hit with a coach down here who also coached JJ Schwarz while he was at UF. This coach had college players from all over.

I’m not suggesting that a hitting coach at UF or any other school isn’t important, but they do have other resources it seems.

He was/is a good scout and brought in a lot of talent. IIRC, Buddy Lee was acceptable to Sully on Bell's say so.

This is 100% correct, but the head coach still imposes his mindset/philosophy every time at the plate… If you look at A&M their resurgence is all about a different mindset and approach led by the top man.
