Too late, they gave it to him and shipped him out, like they should have. If anybody else lied on their application like that they would have been deported much quicker. Kudos to the aussies for treating all equally

He should have listed all the places he had been. But that is not the reason he was sent packing. They said he was a danger to pubic health basically since he is a superstar and could influence people to not get the vaccine. Really is a joke and slippery slope to use that argument. I could understand using misrepresented documents. But I have a feeling that happens often enough with exemptions for mistakes that it was not something that would have been upheld. That is just a guess as it is the reason that seemingly would make the most sense. But not the reason he was deported.

My understanding is that Aussie officials used his celebrity status as the reason to initiall revoke his visa, which he got back after his first appeal. (the judge felt the same way that you did and I do-that his celebrity status wasn't relevant to his visa status)

It was withdrawn a 2d time after social media posts surfaced of him traveling during a time period that he had said there was no travel, which is what prompted the 2d visa revocation, which was upheld on appeal. And which most do agree with.

Seems the same agent who filled out the form incompletely would be the one who organized his travel, so the notion that "he just checked the wrong box" seems a dubious excuse after the fact.

that was the first case. he won that round. he was deported because he, or someone he authorized to sign on his behalf, lied on the forms because they knew it would have raised further review/questions about his claim for medical exemption. The medical exemption waiver was set up for people who could not get the vaccine due to legit health concerns and not for someone who had been previously infected as previous infection is not accepted under Oz rules (and great majority of scientific circles) to convey the same level of immunity as the required vaccine regimen

dude is more fit than I will ever be. dead from covid
4 time world champion kickboxer, 41. sad how many people have died needlessy due to misinformation.

misinformation he not only believed but championed.

Anti-vax kickboxing champ Frederic Sinistra dies from Covid complications days after discharging himself from hospital (the-sun.com)

The three-times world champion who was forced to get medical help by his coach back in November shared pictures of himself in a hospital bed in intensive care breathing through an oxygen tube.

After discharging himself from the hospital, the heavyweight fighter reportedly treated himself with oxygen at home.

It comes as a string of hugely positive studies show Omicron IS milder than other strains, with the first official UK report revealing the risk of hospitalisation is 50 to 70 per cent lower than with Delta.

Covid booster jabs protect against Omicron and offer the best chance to get through the pandemic, health officials have repeatedly said.

Aussie Open is a huge deal, especially the three year ban. I like Joker and have always been impressed with his play and dedication to fitness.
But Melbourne takes Covid serious and has been under tough lockdowns for quite awhile. In the end, I agree with Nadal.

"I think if he wanted, he would be playing here in Australia without a problem. He went through another - he made his own decisions, and everybody is free to take their own decisions, but then there are some consequences. Of course, I don't like the situation that is happening. In some way, I feel sorry for him. But at the same time, he knew the conditions a lot of months ago, so he makes his own decision," said Nadal.

3 year ban is discretionary, from what I read, and I highly doubt it will be imposed against Joker in this case.

Australia sounds like a horrible place to live. Or rather currently a horrible people to live amongst.

I don’t disagree. Just stating that the reasoning he was finally kicked out is being reported that the people arguing for is deportation did not do so on the grounds of him misrepresenting where he had been.

It is being reported that the second I around was not for misrepresentation. Not sting that for sure. I have seen two reports (the one I cited and another) say it was for public health.

It may be 100% misrepresenting on the documents. Just not being reported that way. Every other report I have seen does not specify with any clarity the final reason for the decision.

Yeah, Australia is terrible for requiring vaccinations from foreign visitors (like so
many other countries right now, including the US). How dare they equally enforce their laws and set the rules for entry into their own country.
It is definitely a horrible place to go, possibly the worst two weeks of my life.

    Austria mandating vaccination

Djokovic must comply with local health rules to compete in Madrid Open, Spain's prime minister says

Austria will implement a wide-ranging Covid-19 vaccine mandate, which includes fines for unvaccinated adults, from February 1.
The government announced last November that a vaccine mandate was necessary to address the low vaccination rate in the country. The first draft of the law was published in December, and a revised draft was published Monday and is now going through parliament.
Everyone age 18 and over living in Austria must be vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the latest draft. A few groups of people are exempt, such as pregnant people, people recovered from a Covid-19 infection (who are exempt for 180 days from a positive PCR test), and people who cannot be vaccinated without endangering their health.
“The mandatory vaccination isn’t coming in a sudden way, instead it is coming in a phased approach,” Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer told public broadcaster ORF Sunday.

South Africa's Omicron cases are dropping dramatically, and there is talk of re-classifying the pandemic as endemic there. Britain is not far behind.

South Africa is over Omicron, and that may be good news for the U.S.

Now for some bad news. England has discovered a new variant that they are calling "deltacron". It combines all of the people-friendly aspects of Omicron with the bite of Delta. This could be a game-changer if it spreads.
