Pneumonia refers to an infection of the lung, there's a countless number of organisms that can cause pneumonia. The pneumonia vaccine only covers one specific type of pneumonia (caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, not the same strep as the one that causes strep throat or strep skin infection). It's the most common one, but it's not what COVID-19 causes. It can still help though, because a COVID-19 pneumonia weakens your lungs and make it easier for you to catch a second pneumonia which may very well be a strep infection.

"If only the Chinese had told us sooner the virus was a problem"...at this point(Jan. 24, 2020) in time, the Feds should have begun to stockpile masks and order masks be made to order, in addition to PPEs while surveying existing inventories of emergency pandemic disease prevention supplies, knowing how fast it spread in Wuhan. If only someone or some experts in the Administration were assigned to sound the alarm and implement the pandemic threat protocol. Odd no one in the NAS or DOD or Homeland Security was not assigned a pandemic threat watch. Maybe people were sounding the alarm but the WH refused to hear it.

Really appreciate the checking in and kind words. My family has to stay in isolation for the next 7 days now but technically I'm free to resume working. Ironically I'm working from home anyway.

It's in disarray here. Government taking huge flak for not locking the UK down. The number of people flouting social distancing rules as if they were optional has been ridiculous. Sometimes I find it hard to fathom just how selfish and ignorant (English exceptionalism?!) my national brethren are at times.

I suspect full lock down will be here imminently as a huge bill is being rushed through Parliament today. But it's taken so long to get here, it strikes me that many avoidable deaths will now occur. Dithering of the highest order.

Prime Minister Modi tells Indians to save themselves from coronavirus as Delhi locks down

India has reported 415 cases of the coronavirus and seven deaths but health experts have warned that a big jump could be imminent, which would overwhelm the underfunded and crumbling public health infrastructure.

Modi said many Indians were not taking the lockdown seriously.

“Please save yourself, save your family, follow the instructions seriously,” he said on Twitter.

The lockdown in the capital of more than 18 million people will last for the rest of the month.
