    Male' Maldives
Here in the Maldives, the government issued an order for the Male' area mosques to not allow people (it's only men) to attend Friday prayer as a means to prevent the spread. People can pray at home or even in the street so a mosque isn't required. However, everyone knows that religion would never allow bad things to happen to it's peeps right? Well tonight I walked to a friends home and when walking by the mosque (right after the evening prayer call) was shocked to see it completely full of shoulder to shoulder men praying. My wife said that they all were from the opposition party after the former dictator (in prison right now) sent message to ignore the government and just go ahead and everyone pray in the mosque because the government is lying about the virus here in the Maldives.
This island has been a ghost town, no tourists and residents staying home but it took one jerk off former dictator to convince all these guys to get together and screw it all up for the rest of us. Not being a fan of religion I am amazed that people can be so stupid! If there is one single case of the virus here then my trip back home on Thursday is finished because they will lock this island down and won't reopen it until every resident and expat is tested. What a bunch of morons!

Listening to Vox Worldly podcast. So depressing. In addition to obvious tragedy of the pandemic, Chinese billionaire Jack Ma is contributing to US aid and Italy sent us testing kits. Said it really shows the slippage in the US position as a world leader.

    Such a sad decline

627 deaths in Italy today alone.

if we had a similar percentage die in the us it would be over 3000 deaths in a day, and that’s with a fairly large lockdown there now.

Brazil cuts growth, sees coronavirus quickly ravaging health system

Brazil began to process the accelerating horrors of the spread of the new coronavirus on Friday, slashing economic growth outlooks, warning of a healthcare collapse and announcing new measures to fight a crisis that has also taken a toll on President Jair Bolsonaro’s popularity.

“Clearly, by the end of April, our healthcare system will collapse,” he said. “You can have the money, you can have a private plan, you can have a court order, but there is simply no room for you.”

In comments to journalists earlier on Friday, he slammed governors for taking “extreme measures” that hurt the economy.

Sao Paulo state Governor João Doria said a statewide public emergency would go into force on Saturday, aimed at allowing the government to better fight the virus. All parks and non-essential public services will close until the end of April in an effort to slow the spread of the contagion.

Doria defended the move in a pointed jab at Bolsonaro.

“We’re doing what he’s not doing,” Doria said. “And when he does do it, he does it wrong.”

we can beat our chest and boast about the past, but the sad truth is we are not what we were.

Yes, it’s going to shut my company down for an extended period of time too. We can see across the border fence from our facility but if the US closes the border then we’re sitting on our hands for an extended period of time.

That’s why it would of been nice if the world would just do a coordinated shut down. Instead it’s likely the virus is going to repeatedly move from hotspots to ones with little to no activity.
