    I live in the Charlotte suburbs. I go out a fair bit to pick up food, beer, etc. It is very unusual to see someone without a mask. Like maybe once every couple weeks. I thought that was the norm everywhere.

    just documenting that there is a shortage of beds which leads to provider fatigue and/or rationing of care which causes higher mortality rate. so much winning. leadership matters

    Here in Oklahoma there is definitely an increase in mask wearing. Probably 75% in stores. Many stores require it, mainly the smaller ones.

    I’ve yet to see anyone not wearing a mask in a store here in Maryland. We’ve been able to survive

    I was transferring a patient to a local VA on Tuesday, ran into some issues because the VA was understaffed. Apparently they had just transferred 80+ nurses to Wisconsin.

    When I was in small town OK last month there was almost no mask usage. Glad to hear some are now taking precautions.

    Nine months ago today the guy who lied to you about the election being stolen lied to you that COVID-19 cases were only a few days away from zero.

    1311 reported on Thursday. 19 states did not report any numbers, FL being one of them.

    Friday morning update from world o meter as of 8 am EST.
    • There was an increase in active cases of 250,000 since Monday (When I last updated the spreadsheet);
    • 13 states had a decrease in active cases;
    • Tennessee has the best recovery rate at 88.8% while Maryland is the lowest at 4.5% (they just don't report the info);
    • 4 states had less than 8 deaths but 0 states had 0 deaths;
    • The death rate per reported case is still slowly dropping, down to 2.031%, maybe it will be below 2% on Monday.

    I have traveled to Washington to visit my son a month or so ago and to Dallas last week to visit my daughter. Mask wearing everywhere is very high.

    You are absolutely correct about Dallas. Just left yesterday after being there a week. Mask wearing (even outside) is almost at 100%.

    I've seen a big difference between mask wearing in Jacksonville and in small towns in North Florida. Jax - almost everyone. Small towns, we're often about the only ones.
    But it's been a month or so since I've been out there, so maybe it's changed.

    Looks like new cases have indeed crested. Fingers crossed there's not a Turkey day spike.

    unfortunately thats not the case. Due to the holiday, not every state is giving full numbers. Take Tx as an example, reported 4500 cases yesterday but if you look at the county breakdown, only 62 of 254 counties reported numbers. And of those 62 not all reported both cases and deaths. I suspect it is this way around the country.

    They better throw most of them off campus. Most kids I know are ignoring the mandates.

    I’ll wait for a while to see the side effects if any. I’m retired. I can stay away from most folks.
