Apparently an absolutely endless supply of ammo is vital.

You can only read so many dire predictions before it becomes apparent that the business of dire predictions gets people off. It's really quite a sad statement on the human condition. 3 months of this upheaval, oppression, and loss isn't enough! Give us 18! Please!

All these virus experts would love nothing better than to be on every news outlet for the next 18 months.

Where is this 18 months coming from? Can't we at least limit our celebration of all that life has to take away to a year? I promise if it goes away in a couple of months we can discuss redshirting it.

I've seen that 18 months several times on here. Just a couple of posts above the latest.

So how does China now have it under control, with no new cases? They have a much greater population density than us. It makes me wonder if there are forces at play that we don't know about. If they can solve it and we are in for a world of hurt, any rational person would have to concluded that their solution is not simply because they locked down better. I'm not a conspiracy theory person, but if China wanted to really screw us up and destroy our economy, they couldn't have done anything better than the Corona Virus.

The effects of the virus are hardly limited to the US
You figure China is out to bring down the worlds economy?

Probably because that is the expected time for a vaccine. With an effective vaccine all this goes away (in a manner of speaking). No need for a social and economic lockdown once there is immunity.

I think the question is how long does immunity last? Will this be an annual phenomenon? It's obviously too early to tell how long natural immunity from surviving victims will last. If humans can keep immunity for years, that will be a good thing. If only for a few months . . . ugghhh . . . not so good.

And of course a vaccine isn't the only hope. If we could develop an effective treatment AND be able to mass produce that . . . it could help restore life to normal.

Just playing this out, for which as I said, i'm not sold or even leaning that way.. Considering they have 1.4 billion population, are their leaders twisted enough to sacrifice a small percentage of their own people would be the first question. Maybe they think being the only viable economic super power left in a post pandemic world would put them in a dominant position for many years to come.

If you can't breathe, your heart has to work much harder. Speculating here: I'm guessing he had the heart attacks BECAUSE of COVID-19, but his underlying symptoms made him more susceptible. That would still clearly be a COVID-19 death if thats what played out.

They went in total lockdown. Segregated patients into specially built hospitals. Had large quarantine centers for people “positive” but not requiring intensive healthcare.

Basically stuff we are not doing, have no chance of doing, and now it’s probably too late even if we wanted to.

We can revisit this in April and I will show you how overhyped this stuff has been. Also with that scare the public counter mess you would make them think the end of the world was here if you ran the numbers with the flu at the peak of flu season.

So if 2 congressmen have it and I assume congress can easily get tested so it’s representative of the spread. That’s 2 out of 537 including senators. Extrapolate that out and 1.1M Americans have the virus already!

If they find a vaccine today it would take a year to test and distribute. Luckily, this virus is related to SARS. We have been researching SARS since 2003. There have been many other coronavirus that we have been researching. We are not starting from zero. They estimate they will find a vaccine in the next 6 monts. That is why you see 12-18 months.

They have it under control by locking down the country. I don't think that is very effective as a permanent solution. They have inflicted a lot of damage to their own economy by this but probably saved themselves a mass uprising. So in a way it was survival mode for the government.

Now what happens when they start loosening restrictions and life returns to normal? I think it's naive to think this virus is gone. Another outbreak will lead to another lockdown but the idea that you can lock a country down indefinitely doesn't take the human psyche into account.

Not to mention that by wrecking their own economy they will wreck the economy of the world that relies on China for parts, precious metals, drugs, etc. And who knows whatever key necessities we will find out were coming almost exclusively from China once we get further down the road.

I think a vaccine will be expedited given the severity of the situation. They need to Steve Jobs that bad boy into existence ASAP. I just can't believe this will continue for 18 months. Something will mitigate it. Has to.

    Hope you are right.

But I’m sure there are practical limits no matter how much it’s expedited.
