The cases they have been experiencing have been people entering the country who were kept in quarantine.

Even if they had four cases of transmission of the virus, the U.S. is still about a thousand times worse per capita. They appear to be handling the pandemic MUCH better than we are.

 

I've been alluding to this for months. Are they still at seven fatalities (less than the Diamond Princess Cruise ship)? Meanwhile, we have many rural states with daily case rates astronomically beyond Taiwan's total case rate over an 8month period.

 

Four cases. Think about that from a contact tracing standpoint. Taiwan population is about 23million. Now compare it with Florida (similar population), which had 6,257 cases yesterday. How is contact tracing even possible with that kind of number?

 

No,more tests do not equal more deaths, more cases in the long run might lead to more deaths, tests need to be as many as possible.

The chief of staff is the latest high-ranking White House official to test positive for the highly-contagious virus. It was not immediately clear when he first tested positive, but he was at Trump campaign headquarters in Arlington, Va., on Tuesday afternoon with dozens of other staffers. He was not wearing a mask.

Meadows was frequently in close proximity to President Trump when the president had his own bout with the virus last month. Several other top aides contracted the virus around the same time as the president, including Stephen Miller, Kayleigh McEnany and Hope Hicks, but Meadows managed to avoid catching it in that time.

The Taiwanese should be a model for everyone. Their history of dealing with epidemics is long, and has become increasingly aggressive as to actually protect their citizens. The simultaneous epidemics of 2015 with over 40,000 people infected with Dengue Fever and another 30,000+ infected with another H1N1 outbreak is still fresh in their minds. However, since the SARS outbreak in 2003-2004, the Taiwanese of led the way with public temperature checks, masking in public (voluntarily) and most importantly, caring enough about each other to help tracers find contacts and get potential infections quarantined.

It is also no coincidence that the Taiwanese population reached a rate of 45% of their citizens held advanced college degrees, putting them well ahead of the average of the OECD nations. A highly educated population is one of the best defenses against a viral infection. An ignorant population makes it almost impossible to get the people to do the things necessary to help themselves and their fellow citizens (see: United States).

 

What strain? They have virtually zero cases. One of the vast differences is in how Taiwan was proactive about this disease. By contrast, Americans have been reactive.

 

There have been two strains reported initially. A Chinese and Italian strain. We had the Italian strain in NY and the Chinese in California, according to reports. One, which I don’t remember, is worse than the other. The mutations from each have been different also. Last I read there have been numerous mutations. Some have been reported to be way more contagious and require a much less viral load to contact. That’s why I asked what strain, if anyone knows.

Apparently there is now an antibody resistant mink strain coming out of Denmark, causing other countries to start cutting off travel from Denmark. Denmark is now destroying 100% of their mink population in an attempt to stop it from getting out of control. But it’s jumped back to humans and across borders already.

Chem, I agree with your posts, except the political. Everytime I mentioned Taiwan, New Zealand or other countries, I got back that these were islands or smaller countries. Inapplicable here. Sigh. The principles of viral spread are the same.

 

so,where is all the outcry from people on this board, and the media in general about all the post biden win super-spreader congregations with thousands of non social distancing people crowded together, oh that is right, they are democrats and liberals, you know, do as I say, not as I do. but of course they will not be to blame for rising cases.
