I don’t get this - ‘yeah but they had underlying conditions’.
Obesity, high blood pressure, old age, cancer recovery, smoking; for all of these the individual would and could live a much longer life. Including surviving bouts of the flu. But COVID kills them. And yes trump did a awful job with covid, will continue to do so if re-elected, and a good chance he’ll do even worse if he gets another 4 yrs. And yes masks help.

"Particularly, it is the inability or unwillingness of U.S. officials to adapt or improve the federal response over the course of the pandemic that has strongly contributed to the nation's uniquely high Covid-19 fatality rate," they added.”

That's like saying 88% of the people that died from cancer didn't die from Cancer because they had comorbidities. It's just stupid talk.

People in extreme denial or those that are very uneducated assert this stance.

The thing is, he didn't even quote the talking point correctly. The number they like to spout is orders of magnitude more ignorant.

The Friday morning update from world o meter as of 8 am EDT. I have not updated the stats since Tuesday so this is for the last three days.
    1. There were 12 states with a decrease in active cases, Florida again had the biggest drop.
    2. There were approximately 48,000 more active cases today than Tuesday;
    3. There were just 4 states with 1-6 deaths and 2 states with 0 deaths over the last 3 days.
    4. The death rate per reported cases continues to drop, down 2.639%.

Never thought this thread would hit almost 1,000 pages when I started it back in late February. Sadly, it has. I'd rather it would have ended at 20.

I was so naive thinking this would be like other viruses we've dealt with, hang around 3-4 weeks and then leave us alone. Thought when my daughter came home from NYC in early March with her carry on bag of 3-4 outfits of clothing , "well it will be nice to spend 2-3 weeks with her"

Ha, 4 months later and she was still here.

I know the president wants us to believe that we have turned the corner, but I don't think even he really believes it, not with daily cases approaching 6 figures (77,000+ today).

No plan, no stimulus deal, no overall leadership message, no nothing other than the hope its just going to disappear and we'll be magically able to roll out an approved vaccine overnight, and the continued attempts to divide us into red states and blue states based on governors, or strong and weak based on who wears a mask.

    Trump, during last night's debate:
    Today's Wall Street Journal:
He continues to lie to the American people. Without shame.

75,000 and increasing is a scary thought with flu season now arriving.

It is just astounding that Trump lies so often about a pandemic that has killed so many.

He lied again last night. Trump is a lying liar who lies. If another politician lied like he did last night the pubs would be howling at the moon. He cannot plead ignorance when protecting the country is his number one job.

Of course, no one believes what he says but he is still a liar.

The way they've normalized Trump being Trump just boggles the mind. Guess all major media wants the billionaire tax breaks, not just the propaganda networks on the Right.

Where are you getting these stats about decreases? Or are those stats lagging? I ask because the U.S. is a complete mess at the moment. There are 34 states "higher and staying high" according to the NY Times. There are 10 states labeled "lower and staying low." Twenty-four states show increased fatalities. And we're just beginning the fall surge. Look at any graph of the current case trend in the U.S. and it shows another steady increase. Maybe I'm reading your report incorrectly, but it appears to be a cherry-pick of the happy stats.
