Now ay we should have 100% open with bars, restaurants and other places where masks are not worn not keeping tables/people at least 6 - 10 feet away from neighboring tables. It isn't all or nothing but too many seem to think it is.

Gene tests show both men had two slightly different strains of the virus, suggesting that they caught the infection twice. Researchers say these are the first documented cases of COVID-19 reinfection in the U.S. About two dozen other cases of COVID-19 reinfection have been reported around the globe, from Hong Kong, Belgium, the Netherlands, India, and Ecuador. A third U.S. case, in a 60-year-old in Washington, has been reported but hasn't yet been peer reviewed.
The second reinfection has more severe symptoms during than the initial infection, potentially complicating the development and deployment of effective vaccines.

Johnson & Johnson pauses Covid vaxx clinical trial due to adverse events in some clinical trial participants.

Drugmaker Johnson & Johnson said Monday it has paused the advanced clinical trial of its experimental coronavirus vaccine because of an unexplained illness in one of the volunteers.

"Following our guidelines, the participant's illness is being reviewed and evaluated by the ENSEMBLE independent Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) as well as our internal clinical and safety physicians," the company said in a statement. ENSEMBLE is the name of the study.
"Adverse events -- illnesses, accidents, etc. -- even those that are serious, are an expected part of any clinical study, especially large studies." The pause was first reported by Stat News....

 

Yeah, saw the same report on BBC. Article says reinfection is rare, but certainly something to keep in mind.
The 25 years old was obviously young, but the below article states he was healthy and had no known health issues prior to infection.

So sad. Lockdowns causing a huge spike in Suicides/Overdose deaths. Factor this out across the country and it's a huge issue. Politicians need to listen to science and realize lockdowns kill more than keeping things open.

Also, San Fran has 123 deaths from Covid I believe. Good job on Covid, problem is the lockdown caused so much collateral deaths that it ultimately will be seen as a terrible decision. Especially when the excess Alzheimer's and dementia deaths are factored in.

 

The article says they’re on pace for around 675 deaths for the year. That’s an increase of 234 year over year. The increase for 2019 over 2018 was 182, and 2018 over 2017 was 37. This is clearly a growing problem and one can only assume you were a huge advocate of people getting out more as far back as 2018 when this trend started the uptick. Blaming the lockdown seems lazy and disingenuous, but by all means, keep it going.

 

Where is the link attributing this to the lockdown? Maybe they are so distressed, not because they can't go to a bar, but because Trump is making a horrible year worse by his actions and divisiveness. I'm depressed for the first time in my life and I'm a glass half full type of person.

I’ll dumb it down so you can maybe comprehend... the year over year increase in deaths is nearly identical to the year over year increase from the previous year. The increase in overdose deaths was in motion a year prior to Covids existence by nearly identical numbers. 675 bad. 675 cause lockdown fake news. That all you wanted me to say? Yeah, lockdowns are bad. I would’ve said that months ago. They’re obviously not a good thing, but unfortunately, they’re very much necessary. I hate going to the dentist, but I have to. Not looking forward to a colonoscopy, but again, necessary. I didn’t want to go to work this morning, but lots of bad things still need to be done.

 

Schools open? Because many on here not 8 weeks ago were saying it was going to be a disaster. I don't recall you saying anything about having schools being open. So just own it and say you were wrong about schools not causing outbreaks.

as of now, the overall positive % is 6.7%, at the end of august it was 7.5%, a good drop in positive cases, and with more tests done that in theory should increase the new cases.

 

There's been plenty of talk about hospitalization. The state of Wisconsin is starting to see surges affect hospital capacity to an extent that they opened a field hospital on the state fairgrounds.

I think many on here have thrown caution to the wind, thinking that we're on the other side of this thing. One anti-masker continually claimed that we are on the good side of things. Others seem to think we should just let it run its course. Now we're seeing how it is impacting Gator football. Nick Saban was diagnosed today. Maybe more people will wakeup, but that might just be optimism.
